According to locals, the unbearable stench has been lingering in the air for nearly a month now. However, the lake has not been well maintained by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) since it was handed over by the Karnataka Forest Department to the civic agency in November last year.
Residents of Madiwala Lake express disappointment over BBMP s negligence as the stench from dead shellfish persists, impacting the environment and public health. Complaints remain unaddressed, highlighting the urgent need for cleanup and maintenance.
According to Poongothai Paramasivam, a resident and member of the Bengaluru Navanirman Party, there is a lack of clarity on the current lake boundary. While the waterbody has been fenced by the BBMP, it extends beyond the fence, leading to confusion.
