As well it should be, my friend. Enjoy the show, i will be watching. The stock market closed at a new record high today. Yet another stock market time during the biden presidency, which has been full of stockmarket highs. The stock market is happy in the afterglow of Kamala Harris is Democratic Convention and her rising in the polls indicating donald trump will not be allowed to ruin the economy with the stupidest terrorist proposals in history. Instead of being president trumps next year, the stock market seems to believe he will just be Defendant Trump Next year. Donald trump spent the day ranting on social medium about a new Superseding Indictment voted on by a new grand jury in washington, d. C. The new indictment in the case of the United States of america versus donald j trump, defendant, replaces a previous indictment with the same title and the same list of four crimes, Conspiracy To Defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and co

So as we leave world war ii and the legislation that gave women a permanent part of the military, we are we wait just a few short years and we are faced with war on the korean peninsula. There was such a concern that it would be a world war, like world war ii was that we recalled people to service, to be sure we had people in place to be part of this war and many of them were women as well for the first time. It didnt turn out that way that we needed that many. At any rate, most of the women who served in korea on the ground were army nurses. It was a horrendous situation with, they would barely get established and set up a hospital and they would have to move. We have one diary from a woman, a nurse, who talked about setting up a hospital in an abandoned school. It was dirty, and it was hot but they needed to close the windows because rats crawled up the outside of the building. And those were the conditions under which someone served. There were long hours of duty for all of us. We w

All right. I have a Staggering Number of powerpoint slides for this. Get your bets down now on whether i can get through them or not. I will even omit my customary lame professor humor, about the ncaa tournament, for example. Thats how serious this is. Lets think for a minute, though, about where were situated, what were working on here. In this last third of the course that we started last week, were dealing with the postrevolutionary era. Weve built this idea that something radical and transformative happened to music in the 1960s. Weve worked hard over the course of several weeks to establish those ideas. And we cant leave it, though, just as a kind of baby boomer nostalgia for the days that were. What weve been trying to deal with then, though, is this sense of pervasive disappointment, that the revolution somehow ended in the early 1970s. The popular music became a disappointment, aesthetically, politically. Thats the cliche. We saw plenty of evidence for it. What weve been trying

Maybe if we shift perspective, maybe if we dont simply buy the assumptions that went into the age of countercultural music, if we do that, we may well see music engaged in a different way. Weve started out is by saying isnt it the case that popular music in the u. S. In the 1970s was doing what popular music typically had done well before the 1960s . Which is to mediate relationships between men and women, to medi
