There are around 4,500 mutton stalls in the city and two slaughterhouses – at KR Market and at Tannery Road – where thousands of sheep and goats are slaughtered daily. On an average, 30,000 sheep and goats are killed per month at the Tannery Road slaughterhouse and 15,000 to 16,000 at the KR Market one.
Based on complaints lodged by cattle owners, Soladevanahalli Police have registered a first information report (FIR) and arrested the accused for allegedly throwing acid on the cattle. “We have registered an FIR and also taken the accused into custody,’’ said Soladevanahalli Police Inspector.
