Reporter tours were detoured while police investigated. The architect of the capitol issued a statement this afternoon, saying that a large branch from an american elm fell and struck Matt Mcclanahan who was working nearby on an irrigation pipe. Crews remained on the scene for hours to remove the tree from the roadway and sidewalk.
