When they went in to arrest him he took off from the apartment complex next door to the you can still see Prince Georges CountyPolice Operating there on the top of the academy 8 Movie Theaters here because they believe that suspect has hidden himself inside of the ductwork here. You can see that a negotiator with the Greenbelt Police department is on a ladder walking toward the ceiling of the theater in direct communication with the suspect asking this guy to turn himself in. They are worried about this mans own safety. Every time he crawls inside the ceiling he is knocking down tiles that are fall into the Movie Theater. There is a very good possibility he could fall as well. They are officially calling this a barricade situation. There was a chase through the mall, all foot chase. The suspect then, im told, ran into the Movie Theater. It was an empty Movie Theater. He went behind the movie screen, now currently in the ceiling of the shoe vee theater. We have close to two dozen officers inside the theater as we speak. Weve got fire on scene. This is a city of Greenbelt Police department has a negotiator here whos literally on a ladder speaking face to face with the suspect, who is still not willing to come into custody. Now, again, Prince Georges County police have the suspect under surveillance, watched him break into a vehicle, watched him break into a home, followed him back to his apartment complex here in greenbelt. They went in to arrest this man. Thats when he took off to the Movie Theater. This is now officially a barricade situation. A another wave of bomb threats at jewish institutions across the country today. Today at least four centers were evacuated today. It comes as all 100 u. S. Senators joined forces the Trump Administration to take action. The senators sent a letter to the Homeland Security secretary, the attorney general and the fbi director, pressing for swift action to deter the threats. More than 100 such threats have been made to jewish facilities in 33 states, including in our area since the beginning of this year. One of those threats happened today at the benter jcc in Montgomery County. Its the sixth threat at bender alone. That has lawmakers asking for extra security at local Community Centers and schools. Smith Jewish Day School in rockville received a bomb threat. As a result, the Montgomery County council is now considering a request by county executive ike legget for a grant of 225,000 to help pay for added security at the jcc and the Jewish Day School. I certainly support spending public funds to improve security at faith institutions that may be under threat. Because that expands the reach of our police. Reporter the county money will be used to help pay for more security cameras. The jcc wants to replace old windows in its school rooms wit dwoi windows coated with bomb blast materials. These were scheduled for next fiscal year. County executive legget came up with the idea of moving that money forward. Reporter the Montgomery County council wants to offer help to other faith communities and minorities if they too become targets of threats. On top of that, your metro bus line could be going away for good. Metro may cut more than a dozen bus lines to try to close that budget gap.
