KARACHI: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Sunday said the projects under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) were progressing at a fast pace during the tenure of the incumbent government.
The way the government handled the pandemic situation and made efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, it would also continue working day and night for the success of CPEC, he said while addressing a reception ceremony held in connection with the arrival of the first consignment of equipment and machinery for the Century Steel at the Karachi Port, for setting up of a steel mills in the Rashakai Special Economic Zone. The minister termed the occasion another manifestation of exceptional relations between Pakistan and China.

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said on Sunday the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is entering an important phase as the projects to be built under it pertain not just to infrastructure but other vital areas as well.
Just as the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government worked day and night to contain the spread of Covid-19, it would strive to make every project launched under the umbrella of CPEC a success, said the minister.
He was speaking at a ceremony held at the port here to mark the arrival of equipment and machinery for setting up a steel mill in the Rashakai Special Economic Zone.

LAHORE, Apr. 5 (Gwadar pro)- Chairman China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Lt. General Asim Saleem Bajwa (retd) said on Sunday afternoon that Iron Brother China was providing research and machinery assistance to increase cotton production.
Chairman CPEC Authority Asim Saleem Bajwa, Minister for Agriculture Syed Hasnain Jahanian Gardezi, and others participated in the meeting of the committee chaired by Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar here at the Governor’s House, said an official statement.
Bajwa said the CPEC Authority was keen on facilitating farmers by assisting in various sectors.
“Cotton and textiles account for 8pc of Pakistan s economy and we must all work together to strengthen Pakistan s economy,” he added.
