In this one volume with its overall size but to encapsulate the entire story with the articles of confederation that led to a the constitution that captures the Amazing Things during that period and the other speaker is a librarian at the American Philosophical Society and the editor of this terrific new volume on the American Revolution i also want to plug is book for a the politics of war please give a great welcome to michael and patrick. [applause]. So we will try to talk about in refashion americas founding in with that in mind i would like to start with you patrick so what do you take to beat the traditional narrative . What do we tell ourselves about . We know the story very well it begins with the stamp act the crisis of the colonys coming together for the first time to announce their opposition to the policy that leads to the twoparty in the boston massacre and independence the story is focused on the eastern seaports the end of boston itself and there is an emphasis and what
Less credence to that than a set of statistics. Guest a set of statistics guess to the overall if these guys were engaged in drug interdiction and were being told to after jamaicans and the daye dea keeps close track of who it doing the drug smuggling on the eastern core so if theyre looking for particular drug gang that is racially identified to me it seems to me legitimate that would be one part of the grounds for pulling somebody over, but for average traffic stops just dont think thats happening. Host you spend much of the book, then you havent spent a lot of your recent career, talking about the effectiveness of stop, question, and friction in new york city, and denying its involveses racism, but you are aware that a commander, spin county, deputy inspector, is caught on audiotape, the recording which was introduced in floyd trial, the stop and frisk trial, you write about in the book. Im saying, that, you have to stop the right people, mail, blacks, between the ages 1421, but he
Good afternoon how are you . Good. I am glad to have an opportunity to talk to you with your new book how this makes everyone less safe we know each other and have been on previous panels together but i would like to ask there is a section about whether or not if the police are racist when is your definition . You talk a lot about it in the book so how should we take your definition . I think it is high style treatment to the person on the basis of his skin color. Host a person would be a vote racist. To make judgments about someone based on skin color alone and not even as part of another set of characteristics that we hear from the black lives Matter Movement that cops are racist and in minority neighborhoods and oppressing people in those communities and presumably because there is never any explanation as to why officers would be in those communities so i am simply adopting a phrase that is often bandied about by the black lives matter protesters i go to the protests to see this si

We had a wonderful time going over the of laboratory. Day you run into any other women working at j. P. L. Now . Is the of foreigners how they would react to those of an earlier era. There were many who remember that worked there through the late 1990s they do remember the group that for the Younger Generation who were not hired by helen and did not know there is one say group of women called computers at the lab, it was with pretty surprising to see these are the forerunners. Is an excellent book i would highly recommend it for anyone with a Remarkable Group of women that history is largely forgotten i very much enjoyed our conversation. I enjoyed being here with you deftly and experience to be a young delegate when i was at the
