WELLSVILLE, N.Y. Then Rochester investors Alan Knauf and Joseph Meindl provided what Clark believes is the answer. Through their Wellsville Business Park LLC affiliate, the two bought the plant and will transform it into Allegany County s first industrial park. The deal closed in December. WELLSVILLE Curt Crandall called it making lemonade out of lemons.
With the news last week that the massive Siemens Dresser Rand facility in Wellsville is being repurposed as the Wellsville Business Park, and actively recruiting new tenants, the Allegany County Board of Legislators Chairman said the site may soon return to its position as a job creator for the region.
“It wasn’t long ago everybody was wondering what is it we’re going to do with this facility?” Crandall said. “This facility has a long history in Allegany County for manufacturing and providing jobs. It has been an integral part of our history in Allegany County. With this move and positioning it like this, it looks like it will remain an integral part of Allegany County and beyond. It really has the potential for a regional impact in New York state and northern Pennsylvania.”
