Epa administrator Andrew Wheeler commemorated the 50th anniversary of the agency at the Richard Nixon president ial library in yorba linda, california. Just before 11pm on thursday, the driver of this dump truck was travelling southbound on 101 with his trailer in the up position. When he reached the embarcadero road overpass the trailer slammed into the structure. The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. When the trailer was pulled away from the overpass, crews found a 25 foot crack in the concrete. Through out the day on friday, caltrans engineers and crews examined the damage and found that it was even worse than they first suspected. They now believe that a 4550 section of the overpass is damaged and a steel support girder is also damaged. As a temporary fix, crews wrapped a tarp around the damaged concrete to keep chunks from falling onto the roadway below. All lanes of 101 were reopened just before 6pm but one west bound lane above the overpass will remain closed indefinitely. Caltrans also said on friday that it will take extensive work to repair the damaged girder and concrete. At this point its unclear when t
