Nick Smith resignation: Parliamentary Service staff not responsible, boss says © RNZ / Tracy Neal The head of Parliamentary Service has given assurances his staff didn t leak details of an investigation into outgoing National MP Nick Smith to journalists. Dr Smith abruptly announced his retirement on Monday afternoon, citing personal and professional reasons including that details of an employment dispute had been leaked to the media. These details are yet to emerge, despite Dr Smith saying he had been advised they would be made public on Tuesday. This morning, Parliamentary Service chief executive Rafael Gonzalez-Montero assured a select committee his staff did not leak any information.

MIQ spaces for skilled workers: Dairy farmers request turned down © RNZ / Rebekah Parsons-King Federated Farmers is disappointed dairy farm workers were not included in the plan to use empty managed isolation (MIQ) rooms to get more skilled and critical workers into the country. About 500 spaces - made available because of the trans-Tasman bubble - will be used every fortnight for construction workers, fruit-pickers, international students and refugees. Over the next 10 months, thousands of skilled and critical workers will be allocated spaces in MIQ to help provide a boost to key sectors, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced yesterday. Spaces will be set aside for 400 international students who will arrive next month and 100 refugees every six weeks from July.

Chase Street Elementary returns to virtual learning due to COVID-19

An Athens elementary school has moved to virtual learning due to an increase in COVID-19 positive cases and quarantine.  At Chase Street Elementary School, a total of eight positive COVID-19 cases were reported, causing 114 students to need to quarantine.  On Friday, students moved to a virtual learning format and it will continue all next week. School officials expect students to return to the building on May 17. In a letter to families, school officials said that contact tracers determined that the cases were due to community exposure. If a child at the school tests positive, the parents are asked to notify principal Angela Jackson, principal Tracy Neal, or the school nurse immediately at 706-543-1081.

They were seen in Upper Parliament Street and Wheeler Gate, as well as in West Bridgford and Mapperley A spokesperson for Extinction Rebellion said: Risking their lives, Pippa MacKeith a retired midwife, Jack Horner, Business Analyst, Picture-framer Tracy Neale, and Senior Animator Bertram Kemmler, stopped traffic in the town centre, West Bridgford and Mapperley.
