Gunshot wound to the head. Reporter over months after the murder of 64yearold Michael Mcnew bucks County District attorney announced an arrest in this case. Investigators charged 33yearold Jennifer Lynn morrissey with criminal homicide burglary and other charges. Not always mediate when you can catch a killer and in this instance it took a lot of cooperation, collaboration and just good Old Fashioned detective work. Reporter mcnew was found shot to death inside of his home along the Delaware River in Washington Crossing august 8th. The District Attorney confirms mcnew and morrissey lived together since the beginning of january of 2015. According to court documents, he wanted her out of the house and that likely fueled her anger and led to the shooting. News of the murder rattled this close knit community. Many describe mcnew as a nice man that never bothered anyone. I was stunned shocked to say the least. I know mike, you know, from being a neighbor and everything. Reporter police say after morrissey shot and killed mcnew she returned to the home and tampered with the crime scene to make it appear as if there was a robbery but investigators say all the evidence points to morrissey and shows that she was in mcnews home the night of the murder. The District Attorney says testimony from several informants and threatening Text Messages sent to mcnew from morrissey was enough to arrest her and charge her with murder. In other news a south jersey father will spend 10 years behind bars after he pled guilty to killing his threeyearold son. David creato jr. Was formally sentenced today after pleading guilty last month to one count of aggravated manslaughter reached before his retrial was supposed to start. The body of creatos son brendan was found in a park back in 2015 several blocks from his fathers Haddon Township home. Creatos first murder trial earlier this year ended with a hung jury. Philadelphia police are trying the figure out who shot a man six times in the head this morning in west oak lane. Officials were called to the scene near 75th avenue and tulpehocken streets around 11 30 this morning. Thats where the 38yearold man was found shot multiple times. He later died at the hospital. So far no word on a suspect or a description or a motive. President trump is expected to head to puerto rico next week as residents there continue trying to rebuild their lives. Tonight the president is promising more help after his acting secretary of Homeland Security called the situation there a good news story. The late congressman secured millions of dollars in the 80s and 90s to renovate 30th street station and he was known for much more. He was wanted for the killing in the heart of downtown phoenixville around 9 45 last night. This was the victim 20yearold joshua mitchell. The two were seen arguing in whats called childrens plaza in the 200 block of bridge street. The trendy restaurant and bar scene here where an incident like this set off shock waves. Its all about dinner and family, you know, its surprising. Reporter witnesses heard two gunshots and told police they saw carpenter flee on foot. The suspected murder weapon a handgun was that found nearby. Today i spoke with carpenters family as the hunt for him reached a fever pitch. Somebody lost they life. Today he pleaded guilty to two counts of rape in connection with the Sexual Assault of a clung child last summer hell face 10 years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender when hes released. Camden county officials are still trying to figure out what started a house fire here this morning. Flames broke out at 3 30 near the corner of jarvis road and cottage gate road in sicklerville. The fire spread so quickly on the first floor that part of the home collapsed. Fortunately no one was hurt. An uber driver facing criminal charges tonight for allegedly spraying a female passenger with mace. Investigators say the female driver and the passenger got into some sort of argument. Thats when the driver grabbed her mace and sprayed the other woman. The passenger was treated at the scene. The driver was arrested. Philadelphia detectives are searching for a burglar who broke into a Queen Village home last month. Happened on the 800 block of south swanson street. Investigators say the suspect knocked on the front door and when no one answered he went behind the building and forced his way in through a back door. Surveillance video from inside the home captured the suspect going through a childs room. An alarm then went off and he ran. If you recognize the intruder youre asked to contact police. A hazmat situation brought Philadelphia Police and fire to a rhawnhurst strip mall just before noon today. Chopper6 was over the scene. This is the 7500 block of tasker avenue. Officers prevented traffic from going through the area while they investigated where the mystery substance came from. Still not clear what was what it was but officials gave the allclear about an hour later. At least three people were hurt in an accident involving a Medical Transport van in delaware today. It happened near east newport pike and latimer street in newport. Delaware state police say the impact trapped several people in the wreckage and crews had to cut them out. Two people in the van and one in the sedan were hurt. They were all taken to the hospital for treatment. Meantime a program to provide overnight shelter to folks in need in wilmington is closing down. The safe space is part of the resource center. Officials recently uncovered a financial discrepancy of 100,000. Now the safe space is being eliminated. More than a dozen people were killed when a morning commute goes terribly wrong in this one bustling city in india. Physical ability knows no age. Blank at least 22 People Killed when a stampede broke out on this crowded pedestrian bridge in mumbai india. 32 others were injured. Police are looking into what caused it during the morning rush. It led some commuters to leap over the railing. Others were crushed or fell under foot and sadly were trampled. Three lives were put in jeopardy after a car went off a cliff just outside of los angeles yesterday. That car crashed 300 feet down a hillside. Each person had to be airlifted to safety. One of the people was an off duty firefighter who was bicycling when he saw the crash and then jumped down the hill to help. The two people in the car were taken to a hospital for treatment. Making a change for the third time in four years, the phillies have launched their manager. Pete mackanin is out but hes not going too far. The phillies say after this season mackanin will move into the role of special adviser to the general manager. Breaking news from ocean county tonight where this apartment complex inferno has torn through more than 20 units decimating the 55 and older community. Several people are hurt including some of the first responders. Friday night, jim is off. Im monica malpass. The big story on action news tonight is that destructive blaze in lakewood, new jersey. Reporter monica, this is as close as we can get right now. The fire took place about a quarter mile down that driveway. Right now the fire is out but as you said, that apartment complex is destroyed. Firefighters found flames shooting from the rooftop of this threestory apartment complex. Were told at least four people were injured including two Police Officers from lakewood. They were first on the scene and suffered smoke inhalation while rescuing a resident who was screaming for help. Now, i spoke with the mayor he says those officers will be okay. That resident was more seriously injured and flown to a hospital. Now, firefighters were able to put out the fire but as you can see, that rooftop is
