also this is a look at interstate 880 and that traffic is moving well. it's 6:00. back to mike and pam. topping our news at 6:00 a.m. this morning the investigation into a police shooting in oakland two people were critically injured in the overnight gunfire. ktvu's tara moriarty joining us live this morning with details on what led up to that shooting. tara. >> reporter: well, we do want to mention just two minutes ago the alameda county coroner's van pulled up. so it should be circling around the block here and pulling up next to that suv that you see at the very end of this street where the shooting actually went down as we understand. we're in a neighborhood just south of 580 near school street. officers have not been able to tell us why they were led here in the first place. here's a look at some video that our crews shot last night. ktvu was the first to arrive on scene. and we were the only ones to get a look at the scene just minutes after the shooting happened. now at 9:00 officers had received some inside information violence was about to erupt here. they got a tip on a target vehicle. a light blue van tailed by what they say was the victim's car a red lexus. within an hour and a half they spotted those cars and moved in. gunfire started. two suspects were wounded. and a third took off. officers and federal investigators swarmed the area. >> in situations like this it requires a lot of resources. and we try to get as many officers as we have on duty here to establish command and control of the situation. >> reporter: now police were able to find that third suspect in a nearby yard two hours later using an infrared device on their helicopter. he was not hurt. we do not know what instigated the entire shooting. we know officers recovered several weapons. two found on a nearby rooftop wrapped in a towel or some sort of clothing. there was also another shooting three blocks from here on tuesday night. officers aren't sure if those two incidents are related. again, we just saw the alameda county coroner pull up here. we will try to get more information and let you know exactly what police are saying at this moment. but as of now they are remaining tight lipped and they will not say if the shooting was gang-related. live in oakland, tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. today the public gets to voice its opinion on a proposed speed limit for bicyclists on the golden gate bridge. ktvu's jade hernandez joins us now to talk about why some people feel this is so important. jade. >> reporter: well, we've learned that there were 165 accidents on golden gate bridge within the last decade. it may not seem like a lot of accidents, but the golden gate bridge district says most of those accidents have occurred on the west sidewalk of the bridge. that's key. the west side of the bridge is open only to solo cyclists on the weekends and they share during the week. the district is proposing lowering the speed limit to 10 miles per hour. and 5 miles per hour around construction areas. some cyclists are opposed to changes because violators would be fined $100. in order to gauge reaction the district is holding two bike safety meetings and open houses today. one began just moments ago. for the district the aim to reduce speed is to cut down on the number of accidents on the golden gate bridge. >> bicyclist are on their own on the west sidewalk on the weekends. and it's interesting that in looking at the data of 165 accidents in the last ten years that the majority of those are solo cyclists where speed is involved and they're on the west sidewalk. >> reporter: the first meeting is more impromptu this morning. it began a few minutes ago right here at vista point on the marin side of the bridge. it lasts until 8:00 this morning. the second meeting will be held this afternoon at 3:00 to 5:00 at the district's administrative offices. it's on the other side of the bridge. now proposal provisions are expected to be brought back to the board in june. so a decision on lowering the speed limit on the golden gate bridge is not expected until after that. reporting live, jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. well, this morning cal trans crews are preparing for major work on the new eastern span of the bay bridge. take you out there live this morning to take a look at some of the construction there. now crews will place a 500-ton cable saddle on top of that tower of the self-anchored suspension span. then the suspension cable will be thread through that cable saddle. take a look at that right there. there's the piece. work gets underway about 10:00 a.m. of course the new eastern span of the bridge doesn't open until 2013. this morning in a major speech on u.s. middle east policy president obama will defend new sanctions on syria's president. coming up at 6:15 we will have a live report from washington d.c. with the message the president wants to deliver to the arab world. defense sex tear robert gates says he has not seen any evidence that senior pakistani officials knew exactly where osama bin laden was living. gates says bin laden's hideout was probably known to somebody, maybe a low ranking official, but he says he has no proof of that. there have been questions about how bin laden could have lived for years inside a compound in a military town in pakistan without anyone knowing he was there. los angeles police will be out in force again tonight outside dodgers stadium. they're looking for new leads in the savage beating of giants fan bryan stow in the stadium parking lot. this is the first dodger-giants series in los angeles since that attack nearly seven weeks ago. it was on the minds of nearly everyone who came to the ballpark last night. >> it's just an isolated incident. i don't think it's going to happen again. i'm not worried about it. >> i think it's more of a thug issue than it is a dodger fan issue. you know it's senseless. >> los angeles police believe a young latino woman may have been the driver of the get away car for stow's two attackers. they're showing the jersey one like she was wearing a dodger jersey with the number 16. meantime, doctors at san francisco general hospital are treating stow's critical brain injury. they say they see some signs of improvement and they have reduced his medication since his move from los angeles. stow can now open his eyes however the 42-year-old remains in a coma. doctors say they are not willing to make any long-term predictions. barry bonds will have to wait at least another month to learn what happens next in his perjury case yesterday a judge postponed a post trial hearing until june 17th. the delay will give prosecutors more time to decide if they will re-try any of the three counts in which the jury deadlocked. it also will give defense lawyers more time to work on their legal battle plan. they want the judge to overrule the jury and throw out bonds' lone conviction. pg&e has issued a new warning about pipeline pressure. the utility sent a letter to regulators last week that says dropping levels could effect service to customers including hospitals and power plants. now state regulators ordered the utility to cut pressure on some lines and to conduct water tests following the san bruno pipeline explosion. today transportation secretary and congresswoman jackie spear will tour that blast site. both sides are considering their legal options in the dispute over a piece of land in vallejo that is a native american burial site. native american activists have been camped out at the site for four weeks now. the city of vallejo wants to build a park installing bathrooms, benches and a parking lot. but the activists say that would desecrate the site. the city says it won't pay for a costly legal fight. and the activists say they're not leaving. time now 6:08. let's go back over to sal. i take it you are checking in on the toll plaza at this point. >> that's right. coastal fog is out there. looks like right around point rey north there's enough of an offshore component keeping most of that area fog free. south of that there's a lot of fog. some of it is moving in over the bay. it will be warmer inland. that's today and friday. weekend more fog. what? yeah. more fog. cooler as a weak system comes in. but that's all it takes. next week quiet monday, tuesday. then a possibility of more rain by wednesday and thursday of next week. yes, mike, i kid you not. today rain moves east. clouds are out of here. they moved to nevada. high pressure weak as it may be will give us a decent day. it's just hard to believe the fog formed so rapidly. water temperatures are really cold. upper 40s and low 50s. it will be warmer. temperatures though still below average even on the high side even though we'll get sunshine today they'll still be about five or seven degrees below where they should be this time of year. 40s for temps for many. or very low 50s. southwest sfo southeast san jose west-southwest fairfield sea breeze in place. weak high pressure comes over but the system to the left of your screen even though it doesn't look like much that will be enough countries on the road to democracy like egypt and tunisia and demand political freedom in countries where people want change. we can also expect the president to talk about osama bin laden and his hopes that the al qaeda leader's death could usher in a new era of peace. still unclear syria. will the president ask syria's president to step down? yesterday the white house hit top syrian officials with sanctions for their brutal crackdown on protesters. >> we are looking at ways to continue to put pressure on the syrian government, the syrian regime, to pressure it so that it ceases the violence. >> reporter: another wild car israel. will the president try to restart peace negotiations by suggesting israel make concessions to the palestinian state? the white house wouldn't say. and on friday the president meets with israeli prime minister. live in washington, carol hun, ktvu channel 2 news. prosecutors in the re-trial of former illinois governor rob blagojevich are expected to rest their case today. blagojevich is charged with trying to sell or trade president obama's vacated senate seat for campaign cash or high profile job. jurors at his first trial last year deadlocked on all but one charge convicting him only of lying to the f.b.i. blagojevich denies any wrong doing. his legal team has until monday to start presenting its case. we are now hearing about a potential new criminal investigation against the unabomber. he's serving a life sentence for setting explosions that killed three people. now he says he is also being investigated for the tylenol poisonings in 1982 that killed seven people. he filed a letter with the court in an attempt to stop an auction of his belongings. he said among the items there could be evidence to prove his whereabouts in 1982. at this point the auction is still going forward. a tsa agent has been arrested in los angeles accused of stealing from travelers' luggage. the 31-year-old was an employee at l.a.x. now it's still unclear what he's accused of taking. but he now faces a felony theft charge. he will face the judge in the case next month. a close call at chicago's o'hare airport. the faa says on monday a new air traffic controller cleared a jet link flight for takeoff while the sky west flight was coming in for a landing on an intersecting runway. an alarm in the tower sounded and the sky west flight was told to circle. the incident happened shortly after another plane carrying vice president joe biden landed at o'hare. investigators are now reportedly looking into whether or not that caused a distraction. oakland police are reviewing surveillance video to try to find a suspected bank robber. the robbery happened just a after 3:30 yesterday afternoon at the bank of the west on 49th and telegraph. officers say the robber walked up to a teller and demanded cash. police say he got away with about $2,000. police in the south bay are trying to track down a man suspected in two recent bank robberies there. this is a photo of the suspect that was taken from surveillance video. police describe the robber as about 5'8", 200 pounds and balding. the most recent robbery was on saturday at the credit union on landaus avenue in milpitas. the same man expected of robbing the merry west credit union last month in san jose. the berkeley man who died at yosemite national park last week did not slip and hit his head on a rock. the coroner now says the 34- year-old died of a heart attack. he was hiking with his fiance when he collapsed on the trail below yosemite falls. a memorial service will be held a week from tomorrow. oakland police are looking for a gunman in a shooting that happened just before 8:00 last night. the victim says he drove himself to the police station to report the shooting. he told officers there that he'd been shot at macarthur boulevard and 73rd avenue. he was then taken to the hospital. doctors are not commenting on his condition except to say they expect him to survive. burlingame city leaders have approved an ordnance banning take out. restaurants will be enforced in 2012. similar bans are in place in south san francisco and unincourted san mateo county. they become litter oftentimes the environmental protection agency lists them as a possible carcinogen. let's check with in sal on the roadways. once again we're doing okay out there if you are driving any time soon in the east bay should be a nice drive. it has been somewhat lighter than usual. it's going to start to appear some days will be lighter as the school schedule starts getting busy in may as some much. no problems on the upper deck of the bay bridge. looking at 580 our computerized map system you can see the maps change colors as it gets busier. 580 is a little slow coming in off the allot mon pass. 880 union city hayward looking good. move the map up to antioch you can see traffic busy on highway 4 and also westbound highway 4 coming up on summersville road. there is a minor accident there. it may be causing a little bit of slow traffic. so just be careful -- actually that's westbound near railroad avenue. 6:19. let's go to steve. sal, thank you, sir. we have sunshine today on the weather menu. it will be warmer but not that much. we'll still be below average but there's plenty of fog out there mainly point rey's inland south. santa cruz coastline dealing with a lot of fog and some over to the bay. to the north it's okay. but just the mere fact that fog will arrive without any heat whatsoever is really impressive. so away from the coast it will be all right. we start off on the cool side. some low 40s here, mid-40s. upper 40s and low 50s for temps. that's rather cool for this time of year. we get a break today and tomorrow then that system to the left of your screen it will weaken considerably but it will arrive for a cool down by the weekend. i know. it's been going on for a while here. sunny and warmer though away from the coast. but there's too much coastal fog for the coast and bay to warm up. 50s, 60s and some low to mid- 70s today. these are still below average. we've been 20 below average on the high side today we'll be about five to seven for some. i news on the unemployment front. 29,000 fewer claims for jobless benefits last week. that reverses the spike last month that the government now says was caused by temporary conditions. and the number of people continuing to receive benefits dropped by 81,000. yahoo is taking a step designed to improve its online advertising capabilities. yahoo bought the advertising service five to one holding corporation. that company works with about 20 websites to sell their unused online advertising space. so far that effort has not turned a profit. and actually lost $9 million last year. yahoo paid $28 million for its latest acquisition. a deadly crash shuts down a freeway. new video of the intense scene as rescue crews work to get to the victims. and the new tool being considered by san francisco beautiful bridges. mike and pam. one person was killed when a car slammed head on into a big rig on an arizona freeway. the accident triggered a large explosion engulfing both vehicles in flames. the phoenix roadway was shut down in both directions as crews tried to put out that fire. the driver of the car was confirmed dead at the scene. the driver of the truck was injured. the former president of a parent-teacher organization in san jose is facing jail time for theft charges. vanessa reyes pleaded no contest to felony grand theft. prosecutors say she stole more than $20,000 from trace elementary school's parent- teacher organization. now the new treasurer of the organization says reyes tried to hide her crimes by claiming the group's financial statements burned in a school fire last year. a former trace clerk also faces theft charges. dozens of people turned out in san francisco to complain about what they call racial profiling by police officers. >> what they need to realize is that there needs to be a level of trust with these communities that currently doesn't exist in san francisco. >> human rights groups say san francisco police officers assigned to the f.b.i. terrorism task force frequently circumvent local laws meant to protect civil liberties. at the meeting chief suhr said he would remind his officers that local laws trump federal policies. in a separate issue, the chief is also considering equipping some of his police officers with small video cameras. it comes in the wake of the latest video released by the public defender alleging illegal searches and police misconduct. chief suhr says he hopes the cameras will help protect officers and shed more light on the work they actually do. the cameras cost about $125 a piece. now because of budget restrictions only plain clothes officers would get to wear them. actress zsa zsa gabor is said to be in a coma this morning. the 94-year-old was rushed to a los angeles hospital tuesday because of a problem with her feeding tube. her spokesperson says the tube was causing bleeding in her stomach. gabor's had a string of health problems in the past couple of years including a recent hospitalization for pneumonia. we're now hearing of a possible reason that arnold schwarzenegger went public with the child he fathered with his housekeeper. and we'll tell you what neighbors who live clark. >> good morning. i'm pam cook. time now 6:30. much of the talk as we've been saying on wall street is about linkedin and its ipo. it's called a social networking site for professionals who say it's more of a network than social like myspace or facebook. for the people who use it that's a benefit. it helps with job leads or finding information for the workplace. but analysts say because it's different it may not be able to generate strong profits. >> you do everything on facebook. you're logging in every day. while there are different companies, linkedin is positioning itself as the business site to be logging in once a week or whenever you get a message that would be a concern for anyone who is investing. >> plenty of people do think it's going to do well because the early investors drove up that price to $45 a share topping the initial estimates. well, we are following a major new development in an overnight shooting in oakland. happened in east oakland. just a short timing a we got word into the newsroom that two people were killed. ktvu's tara moriarty has been on the scene all morning long and joins us with this developing story. tara. >> reporter: that's right. we have just learned from assistant chief howard jordan that two people in fact died during this shootout here. if you take a look behind me you can see it happened at the very end of the street right where that fire truck is actually. they just finished hosing down an area there at the end of the street and the coroner arrived about half hour ago. right now look at video that our crews shot last night. ktvu was the first to arrive on scene and we were the only ones to get a look just minutes aft the shooting happened. now at 9:00 officers received some inside information that while you see this kind of activity. you see helicopters and speeding cars. >> reporter: now police were able to find that third suspect in a nearby yard two hours later using an infrared device on their helicopter. he was not hurt. we don't know what instigated this shooting. we know that federal investigators were here and they recovered several weapons. two of them from a nearby rooftop moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. later this morning a san ramon police officer accused in a corruption scandal is scheduled to be in court. ktvu's kraig debro is live in walnut creek this morning where that officer is expected to enter a plea. kraig. >> reporter: good morning, pam. i've just been on the internet doing a lot of research on this case. it is very complicated. 38-year-old louis lombardi's charges stem from an ongoing investigation to a state run law enforcement agency. the arraignment hearing is supposed to take place right here at superior court in walnut creek. he postponed the arraignment he had for last week so he could have time to hire a lawyer. a fellow officer was arrested earlier this month. he's facing five felonies. stealing guns, stealing drus, imbusiness limit. he's now free on $500,000 bond and on add morive leave from his job. he stole money from three seizures and also said back in 2007 san ramon cops listed to steal money from a building where lombardi had conducted a legal search. back then he was working with the central contra costa county narcotics enforcement team. the leader of that team norman welsh. he, welsh and a third man, butler devised the plan in a meeting to make money from selling drugs and guns. he stole drugs from evidence lockers and passed them onto his close friend butler. a concord private investigator. butler is also accused of stealing and selling drugs on separate charges that he bribed a danville police officer. coming up we're going to get into why the arrest of lombardi caused a federal judge to reverse her decision on a civil lawsuit. live from walnut creek, kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 news. we're now learning what may have led arnold schwarzenegger to finally disclose that he had fathered a child with his housekeeper. the media is swarming around the bakersfield home of 50-year- old patty baena. one outlet reports that baena recently threatened to go public with the affair. a few weeks later schwarzenegger fired her and told his wife maria shriver. baena's neighbors have nothing but praise for the 14-year-old boy. >> young man at the top of being polite and being very cordial and just somebody you want to be around. >> according to the new york times, schwarzenegger paid for baena's $250,000 bakersfield home. well, today the prosecution in the chauncey bailey murder trial -- >> that's right, pam. i'll take it. is expected to wrap up its closing arguments. yusef bey iv and mackey accused of killing bailey, oakland journalist and two other men in 2007. bey was the former leader of your black muslim bakery. prosecutors say he ordered bailey's killing to present bailey from writing a story about the bakery's financial problems. as the bailey case heads to the jury, ktvu news has obtained 1,000 pages of legal documents never seen publicly. documents paint a troubling picture of top commanders at opd misleading the public about key aspects of the bailey case. on december 15, 2008, then oakland police chief wayne tucker called a highly unusual press conference to respond to a story revealing what may have been the single biggest turn in the assassination of bay area journalist chauncey bailey. but the discovery was tucker delayed for two days a massive police raid scheduled for august 1, 2007, on the violent your black muslim bakery so that a member of the chief's command staff could extend a camping trip. the next day, august 2nd, a self-described soldier from the bakery gunned down bailey. the delayed raid then took place on august 3rd, the day after the murder. the documents ktvu obtained contain charges that tucker and his command staff held a private meeting just before that press conference where they agreed to cover up the decision when they met the news media. >> the department i believe had its own i guess sense of guilt or responsibility for the murder because the department was supposed to execute a warrant on the black muslim bakery august 1st, the day before the murder. now no one is suggesting or implying that the department intended to kill chauncey bailey. >> san francisco attorney john scott is bringing a lawsuit against the city on behalf of the city of oakland on behalf of sergeant long mire, the lead investigator of the bailey murder. ktvu obtained sworn statements by long mire and other police officials. some testifying that long mire has been unjustly painted as the scapegoat for the bailey homicide investigation. long mire's lawsuit is scheduled to go to trial next february. as for fog and a lot of it has come roaring back even though we haven't had any heat in the valley usually need a bit of heat to get going but west wind has kicked in trying to gobble up the moon there. coastal fog warmer inland but not a lot. temperatures just because we'll lose the cloud cover high and mid-level clouds temperatures coming up still below average though. looks like more weekend fog coming in a cooler pattern. and then okay monday and tuesday. there are sign, hints, strong hints, maybe more rain coming in middle and end of next week. pattern's there. tough to budge it. today the rain has moved out. clouds have disappeared unless it's coastal fog and now moving up the marin coast. i mean it's not just san mateo or santa cruz, it's starting to fill in over the bay as well. and coastal fog, westerly breeze. but it will be warmer inland. see some more low to mid-70s instead of just the upper 60ed. high pressure is building in but weak as it may be it's not doing much. but it has wiped out some of the cloud cover as the system moved out. some low 40s livermore is 42. napa 43. 44 san rafael. 46 redwood city. so there's a little bite to the morning air. and we also have some low cloudiness and westerly sea breeze south-southwest at sfo. west-southwest fairfield little southeast at san jose. but it is sunny far enough away from the coast. but this weak high pressure system is going to get bumped out of here by that system to the left of your screen. won't give us any rain but it will continue to ramp up that fog and give us another cool down. so we get a brief warm up today and tomorrow unless you're by the coast. you're saying won't warm up 50s and 60s. upper 70s maybe for those well, well inland. still some 50s on the coast or low 6 0z. just too much in the way of low clouds and fog. temperatures even san jose 72. san mateo 68. gill roy 76. a lot of inland areas should be in the low 80s now. they're not seeing that. i don't expect much of a change on friday. then a cool down pretty good one as we go into sunday. japanese car makers are slowly returning to normal production after the massive earthquake and tsunami. the interesting step they are now taking to avoid problems this upcoming summer. >> reporter: golden gate bridge officials want to know what cyclists think about implementing a speed limit on the bridge. find out what they're doing this morning to gauge reaction. good morning. if you're driving on interstate 680 so far so good on your trip to the silicon valley. tell you more about the morning commute and have another look at the forecast. good morning. here is a quick look at some of the top stories we are following right now. this morning president obama will make a major speech on u.s. policy in the middle east. the white house says the president wants to make clear to the arab world that the united states supports the up risings by protesters demanding democratic reforms. this morning cal trans crews are preparing for major work on the new eastern span of the bay bridge. crews will place a 500-ton cable saddle on top of the tower of the self-anchored suspension span. happening now it's been a busy workday on board the international space station. the combined crews of the space station and the space shuttle endeavour have been hearing from the hundreds of scientists who were anxiously awaiting the installation of that $2 billion piece of equipment. take a look. we are looking at live pictures right now. the team did successfully install it outside the space station shortly before 3:00 a.m. our time. that magnetic device could help researchers discover the origins of the universe. i'm getting it in place and working with a major objective of this mission. excuse me. slowing down the cyclists on the golden gate bridge with a speed limit. that's the idea. now the public gets to voice its opinion and ktvu's jade hernandez is out at the bridge this morning with the reason why they're considering these new rules. jade. >> reporter: well, it's accidents. they're just afraid of the speed limit on the bridge, pam. golden gate bridge officials want to know exactly what cyclists think about implementing the speed limit on the bridge ten miles per hour and five miles per hour around construction zones. there have been 165 accidents in a decade on the golden gate bridge. it may not seem like a lot but the golden gate bridge district says most of those accidents have occurred on the west sidewalk of the bridge. the west side of the bridge is open only to solo cyclists on the weekend. they share with pedestrians at certain times during the week. some cyclists are opposed to changes because violators would be fined $100. in order to gauge reaction this morning, the district is holding two bike safety meetings and open houses today. pamphlets are being handed out. first impromptu session began about 45 minutes ago. we spoke to a cyclist about half hour ago who told us he would be disappointed the speed limit would be put in place. >> i think it would be bad for cyclists just from a standpoint of those of us trying to go out and get a workout in the morning. it's a great path to get over to marin county. it's part of my normal route. i see a lot of cyclists out early in the morning. i do see the concern when it's multiple with pedestrian and cyclists. >> reporter: as i mentioned the first meeting began four to five minuting a here at vis to point. it lasts until 8:00 this morning. the second meeting will be held this afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 at the district's administrative office. proposal provisions are expected to be presented to the board in june because district officials are going to take all of the reaction. there's about 200 to 250 people who have already responded about the new speed limit change and what the district plans to do is make some provisions to the proposal and in june expected to make a decision about the speed limit change after that. california's biggest bike race heads down the california coast today. stage five of the amgen tour of california starts in seaside at 9:30 this morning. it runs more than 135 miles. the fastest cyclists are expected to make the trip along narrow roads in less than six hours. the stage that started in livermore yesterday ended with american cyclist chris horner in the overall lead. his teammate, levi from santa rosa is second overall. he has won this race three times. a bicyclist not involved in the race except as a spectator was hurt near the finish line. he and a volvo collided. the racing fan was taken to regional medical center of san jose where he was treated for his injuries and released last night. 6:49 is the time. back over to sal. what's going on in traffic, sal? you know right now traffic is getting busier around the bay area. highway 4 you can see it here coming up to the willow pass grade. you'll see traffic that's going to be busy coming across the grade and getting over to the concord side. it does begin to ease up once you make it to the top of the grade. that's where our camera is panning through right now. also the morning commute is going to be okay at the toll plaza. no problems on that upper deck. and if you are driving in concord westbound highway 4 looks okay as we showed you 680 is okay from concord to walnut creek. let's go to steve. thank you, sal. well, we have clear skies inland. but there's going to be enough fog to keep temperatures from warming up very much on the coast and around the bay. now at least inland see mostly sunny skies and temperatures will come up but still below average. i mean i'm still -- hard to believe the fog has formed this much fog. we haven't had any heat. there wasn't any yesterday. and yet the fog just enhancing rapidly. 42 livermore. it's chilly. 40s for santa rosa, napa, san rafael, even fairfield, concord, redwood city, mountain view and san jose. it's cool out there. the big system from yesterday though is finally moving far enough east we don't have to worry about that. high pressure's here for about a day and a half and this system will come in and weaken. but it will continue to enhance that fog and also give us a cool down over the weekend. sunny and warmer if you're away from the coast. but if you're by the coast you'll probably deal with coastal fog. looks like the sonoma coast so far is fog free. we'll see if that holds. breezy at times. more out of the west though. ooze, 60s and upper 60s around the bay. low to mid-70s inland. these are still not near -- they're getting closer to average but they're still below average. friday looks like a carbon copy and then cool down into the weekend especially on sunday. all right. thank you, steve. well, sears had bigger than expected losses during the first quarter of this year. sears holding corporation reports losing $170 million during the three month period. it did make money during the same time last year. earlier it had warned that it would post a bigger than expected loss because of the drop in appliance, clothing and consumer electronics sales. now the company is considering moving its headquarters out of illinois where it receives state sales tax incentives that will expire next year. checking in on wall street we're still keeping an eye on linkedin. steve paulson heard some inside informs that might be linkedin might be opening up around $75 to $80 a share. but it's still not trading yet. of course it was priced $45 a share last night. live look at the big board. the dow jones up 55 points to 12,615. but we will continue to keep an eye on mountain view based linkedin the star of the show today. japan's auto industry is changing its workweek to help avoid blackouts this summer. instead of working monday through friday, the biggest car makers and their suppliers will work on saturday through thursday starting in july. that will decrease demand during the week when more electricity is used. japan has been struggling with power shortages since the nuclear disaster following last march's earthquake. so they're hoping this will help prevent blackouts during the retaliation after a suspected gang related stabbing. it happened last week in the gerstle park neighborhood. police say a 21-year-old man was stabbed to death in a gang- related fight. four suspects were arrested. they are all being held without bail. a san jose native will be arraigned in court today after her 6-year-old son's body was found in maine. 4-year-old julian mccreery was taken into custody yesterday and questioned about the death. the boy's body was found on a back road near the new hampshire border on saturday. mccreery was born in san jose but later moved to texas. a bay area based radio network is learning the end of the world is actually good for business. family radio has plastered billboards across the bay area and dozens of other places around the world. those signs proclaim judgment day is this saturday. that prediction is based on mathematic calculations tied to the bible. the radio network reports donations have sored in recent weeks that's allowed it to spend millions of dollars on more than 5,000 billboards. well, the competition is getting down to the wire on "american idol." ♪ [ music ] >> tonight we will find out who makes it to the final two. the
