Now, the process is taking more than double that amount of time, because one sergeant is on extended medical leave. Landlords say they understand they have to be patient, but time is money. You are asking me as a landlord to go another month without collecting a rent, because you dont have enough man power or somebody scheduled that can help you remove the person you need to go, and that hurts. Weve got a total of 24 evictions scheduled over the next 11 days, our Civil Division only runs monday through friday and we only do evictions on day shift because of the iowa code. For others, we think of a nagging cough, a runny nose, and a fever. In todays health minute, holly firfer talked to a pharmacist about how to keep winter bugs at bay. Theres really no cure for a common cold really what you would do is come with the common cold. So depending on the symptoms you have that will determine what medications you take. First, theres pain. Acetaminophen isnt the only pain reliever out there. So there are two Major Products that you usually will take the first one is either ibuprofen. And, other people like to take naproxen. And when it comes to antihistamines. The main product that is in the cold medication is diphendyramine. Butted to so one of the major side effects of this product is drowsiness so you always want to make sure that youre not driving after taking this medicationif you also have a cough, look for products with one of these two active ingredients. What gualifenesin does is when you have that deep, congested cough. It helps bring out all the gunk associated with that. When you have that dry cough that youre trying to suppress then you take dextromethorphan. And last but not least, dont forget the tissue. For todays health minute, im holly firfer. The federal budget that week means billions of dollars in cuts to Crop Insurance. In todays agribusiness report, farmers are unsure of when and how those cuts will happen. Stay with us. Good morning this is the good morning this is the agribusiness report. Im david geiger. In a budget deal passed last week. Crop insurance took huge cuts. Around three billion dollars. After the deal. House and Senate Ag Leaders claimed the cuts would be removed in a later omnibus spending bill. Well now some farm groups say. Thats not settled. The National Farmers union says house and Senate Ag Leaders never said how subsidies would be fixed. And billions of dollars to fix it may be difficult with new house speaker. Paul ryan. Who is a farm subsidies critic. The nfu says theres a lot of unknowns. So, this discussion is not over. I dont think Crop Insurance is out of the woods yet. We have an assurance from the house, but we dont know where the money is actually coming from. And i dont think the senate has figured out, i think the senate has agreed to work on the issue, but they have not agreed on how to come up with the additional three billion. House and senate press releases claim Crop Insurance cut issues have been settled. There are proponents for the cut. Congressman ron kind from wisconsin. Says the bill reduces profit margin from Crop Insurance from 14 to nine percent. Which he thinks is fair. Opponents of the reduction say it would reduce the number of companies wanting to offer Crop Insurance. Kind says a nine percent profit margin is enough incentive for any company. Adding he doesnt believe family farmers will be affected by the subsidy reduction. However. Not everyone agrees with that. Cornell University Professor joshua woodard. Says the move would increase premiums. Lead to lower uptake by farmers. And discourage providers. He says Cornell Research shows farmers do not use Crop Insurance without subsidized premiums. Adding in the last few years there have been many changes to subsidies, making it less profitable for private insurers. He suggests more reductions could lead to companies exiting the market. And in the grain markets. Its looking. Pretty red. And china could be playing a big role. I think were headed lower, next level supports 3. 72. I think were going to test there, were about 85 percent, 90 percent completed in harvest. Putting some pressure on it. But the Commodity Markets in general have turned weak once again. Im looking at selling beans once again, here very soon. The 10 day high is around 9. 16, in the january contract, were about 8. 83, i want the risk to come down and that will come down in wednesdays trade. So look for a selling opportunity here as china came out here over the weekend and basically said theyre going to slow down. Look for any type of rally to sell soybeans while placing the stop at 9. 16 in the january contract. I am short the cattle, i think that we are going to retest that 130 level in the next several weeks. So, remain short, while placing the stop loss above the 10 day high but i think, i think cattle prices are in trouble here. Hogs continue to producers to be selling up at the 66, 67, 68 im a little surprised weve absolutely collapsed. The risk is too high as a speculator and in fact even as a producer right now. Id be a little weary of selling down here, i think were way oversold. The colfax sheep and goat auction on saturday saw four hundred 32 head of sheep. Feeder lambs fetched the days high average price of a dollar. 77 per pound, while fed lambs averaged a dollar 46 per pound. The 87 goats at the auction saw a high average price ranging from 87 dollars and 50 cents. To a hundred 77 dollars. And 50 cents per head. Thanks for joining us on the agribusiness report. Ill be here tomorrow. Well post a video every day in the agribusiness section of kcrg. Com. Youll find it under the news tab. Im david geiger with the agribusiness report. Trt 3. 40 oc of our universe dark matter. Hopes to unlock its secrets, thanks to a nasa. Gather up all of the known things dont quite add up. Matter people, planets and stars. The rest is dark energy and dark matter. But Scientists Say about half the normal matter. Is still missing. Kcrgtv9s Forrest University of iowa scientist searching for that missing piece of the puzzle. Ui professor Philip Kaaret is a man looking for missing matter. A Sherlock Holmes of space who, instead of using a magnifying glass, will be making a satellite for nasa after receiving 3. 7 million from the group. I made a very sophisticated model. The satellite will actually be slightly smaller than this box. Itll be whats called a cube sat. Inside its small body, a few of these xray detectors. You see, the professor is looking into whether all that missing matter is actually giant halos of hot gas, circling galaxies like ours. The detectors are a way to see the gas and help measure just how much there is. Our project is to try to see how big that halo is. Is it enough, is it big enough, that it solves the missing matter problem or is it smaller and we have to go look somewhere else . The plan is to have the satellite assembled and ready for a ride to space by 2018. Itll also provide grad and undergrad students a chance to work of something for nasa which, if youre an aspiring astrophysicis t, is a dream come true. When you start here as an undergrad, you start taking classes, you never expect to be working on stuff that is actually going to go up into space. But, in a few years it will, starting its 520 day mission to give us back on terra firma a little better understanding of whats going on up there. Itll give us a better understanding of our galaxy, our own home galaxy. This is the third time professor kaaret has applied for the grant. His cube satellite will be one of the first of the tiny satellites used to look outside of our solar system. Voters will be grabbing blank ballots to fill out, across eastern iowa today. In cedar rapids, voters will decide on additional funding for the public library. As an example, that would cost the owner of a cedar rapids home valued at 150thousand dollars, an extra 23 dollars a year. Protestors fear he could cut programs that dont bring in money. Harreld, whose background is primarily in business, says he wants to talk with people about their concerns. Weve got to move on. This institution today is a lot different than it was in 1847. Its going to be a lot different moving forward. If were going to continue the great, excellent things that have gone on here in iowa city, whats the plan . Whats their plan . Please, lets engage. But there is a place in your daily meal plan for those frozen veggies, and our hyvee dietitian will be here next to tell us more. Now. Shes got some ideas about using frozen veggies in your main and side dishes, to give them a little nutritional boost. Customers in the aisles and those who come to classes to learn about healthy shopping on a budget all ask a consistent question arent frozen foods especially fruits and vegetables less nutritious than fresh . In fact, the nutritional edge actually goes to frozen fruits and vegetables when comparing them to canned or Fresh Produce. Why . Even Fresh Produce may have traveled several days from the time of harvest to get to the produce department in your local grocery store. During that time, the produce will lose some of its nutritional value. Additionally, Fresh Produce has usually been picked before its fully ripe which can result in less than maximal nutrient development. Frozen food, on the other hand, will often be harvested at peak ripeness. The harvest is usually early in the day so the vegetable is packaged and frozen by the end of the day or sooner. This short time between harvest and packaging maximizes the retention of nutrients. Another benefit of using frozen produce is that it is often more reasonably priced than fresh. Seasonal spikes in price can be avoided and the availability is typically more consistent, as well. Having a wide variety of options to choose from helps customers maintain variety in their diet, which in turn helps ensure that they get all the essential nutrients needed for health. Shopping sale prices on frozen vegetables and fruits can stretch the customers buying power even more. One last benefit of using frozen vegetables is that waste can be minimized. Individually frozen pieces allow the whole bag to be used at once, or just as easily enjoy one serving at a time. Reclosing the bag tightly after opening will protect the remainder in the bag from freezer burn until the next use. Stay tuned to tomorrow. Ou r vet will be here to answer your pet questions.
