>> i don't know if he does. first of all in a more polarized, it's harder. is it possible to be president of more than half the country, and whether we will see someone get to the 59% or so that ronald reagan did, but the key is obviously economic improvement. 9 big thing that changed in our heartland monitor poll we do every quarter is 60% of the americans say they expect the economy to do better over the next year, and that is the tail wind. you're also seeing an important separation, white collar americans are beinging more optimistic. they're beginning to see their 401(k)s improved, housing values improve, and the president ran much stronger, and likely will need the same pattern to resurface if he's going to win in 2012. so while the republican candidates battle each other, democrats and the obama campaign are trying to seize on what they see as an opportunity with women voters. cnn white house correspondent jessica yellin -- we're not surprised, they have seen this as a huge bonanza. how are they using it now? you just have to close your eyes. >> some republicans say this is not where the party should be focusing its energy. >> whether it's contraception or people trying to bring the issue of pro-choice back into the mix, this is a losing issue for republicans. these cannot slide this farther to the right. >> romney cements to agree. >> i have something to say about some of the women that i'm hearing from, and we've been all across this country. do you know what women care about? this is what i love. women care about jobs. >> reporter: have the president himself says he believes women are not single-issue voters, but that the democrats have more to offer. the question is, whether they issues energize women voters. candidate, you can be sure that they will try to remind women that came up in the issues, and republicans will try to remind all voters it's all about the economy. so leaving the economy aside, the white house you have learned is gooding to further define its whole policy for contraception and insurance. >> that's right. two senior administration officials, two administration officials tell me that this afternoon they're going to update and put out new policy proposals, asking for feedback on how self-funded religious institutions should provide contraception and handle the contraception rule for their employees. >> if a church funds a daycare. >> and they provide their own hurricanes, how they should handle this rule. >> which says to me, they're still looking for the right answer to this. >> this was one of the outstanding issues they said they would resolve and continue to work on. they also clarified if you're a university, a religiously affiliated university and you're providing contraception and you object to it, then your health insurance -- that insurer has to pay for the health care. >> more later. >> i know. chief white house correspondent jessica yellin, thank you. some real-life drama for actor george clooney. he was arrested here in washington today. also an outbreak of apple mannian as the new ipad goes on sale. and plunging to earth. details of plans for a jaw-dropping 23-mile free fall. ok, guys-- what's next ? chad myers is joining us from the cnn weather center. walk us through what happened. >> severe weather season in michigan is may and june, certainly not the beginning of march, but yesterday very near a town near dexter, michigan, the storm began to rotate. it was literally the only storm that was rotating for a while. but this is what the pictures look like from storm spotters and chasers that were driving very close to the storm yesterday. weather service went out there today, and they found ef-3 damage. that's 135-mile-per-hour winds. those winds were on the ground, causing that damage, literally, you can't even tell that was a house. i'm sure you did tell it's a structure, but right there where the twisters tear homes apart, that was a home there, right by the fire truck. that was a two-story home reduced to only the bottom story. that's why we tell you to get to the lowest level, because the lowest level typically remains, even in a very strong storm. seven people hurt, about you nobody killed. >> i know you're forecasting causing rain and snow from portland and seattle above 1,000 feet, all the way down from rain, we'll have a large area of severe weather, oklahoma, texas, especially right along the mountains here, about 150 miles east of the mountains, there's something called the dry line. that's where the storms will be on sunday, moving ahead to monday, we start to see the storms move farther to the east, into nebraska, parts of texas, maybe even toward dallas and waco, all the way down to san antonio, now again we're moving into some bigger areas monday into tuesday, and now we're into big cities. we're into the quad cities, into parts of missouri, down south into louisiana. that's not the area i'm most worried about. by tuesday into wednesday now we have shifted this area back into michigan, right into chicago, and the potential for dozens of tornadoes will exist in the next four days, starting on sunday, as the storm that's causing a lot of havoc into the west moves into the midwest. it's been 80 degrees in the central plains, we broke 400 record highs yesterday across the central plains. when this air pushes it away, the cold air pushes it away, there would be big storms. they are coming sunday, monday, tuesday and wednesday. >> i'm going rogue here. i might not ever get you back. because it's been so hot this wind action and because we're having such an early spring, does it necessarily mean a hotter summer than normal? >> it doesn't mean hotter than normal, about you it means that summer may arrive sooner. i think right now we're almost into spring, with spring being a 2, 2 1/2 month season, we could stay 80, 90, 100 degrees, maybe eight, nine months all way into october and november. could be a very long summer. probably not hotter, but certainly longer. >> chad, thanks so much. shocking words from an american jail inside cuba. >> the conditions here are subhuman, and the food is unfit for human consumption. we have secret video smuggled out of the one of cuba's most notorious prisons. that's just ahead. shocking chants from the band as naa tournament here. your cat can enjoy wi, the delicious, satisfying taste of gourmet gravy every day. fancy feast. the best ingredient is love. in your breakfast cereal, what is?
