GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Bridge has been reopened to vehicles heading to the mainland after a fire brought traffic to a standstill.
Since 6pm Monday (Feb 22), there was massive traffic congestion on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway heading to the Penang Bridge.
The bridge was reopened at around 9.30pm Monday for traffic heading to the mainland.
All road users who need to get to the mainland were directed towards the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge instead.
According to a Penang Fire and Rescue Department officer, only one lane is currently open for users on the Penang Bridge.
