GEORGE TOWN, March 4 The Fire and Rescue Department has identified the cause of the fire that broke out of one of the electrical cables under the Penang Bridge last week.
Penang Fire and Rescue Department Director Saadon Mokhtar said they have completed investigations into the cause of the fire.
“We will submit a report of our investigations to Tenaga Nasional Berhad today,” he told reporters when met at the Jalan Perak Government Clinic this morning.

GEORGE TOWN, Feb 23 ― The electrical cables at KM3.2 of the first Penang Bridge caught fire again this morning, after a similar incident yesterday.
The Penang Fire and Rescue Department received a call at 9.17am and several teams were sent to the site on the bridge and by boat.
The Perai Fire and Rescue Department Station chief Azrul Khairi Abu Bakar said a small fire broke out on the same electrical cables underneath the bridge that caught fire yesterday.
GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Bridge has been reopened to vehicles heading to the mainland after a fire brought traffic to a standstill.
Since 6pm Monday (Feb 22), there was massive traffic congestion on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway heading to the Penang Bridge.
The bridge was reopened at around 9.30pm Monday for traffic heading to the mainland.
All road users who need to get to the mainland were directed towards the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge instead.
According to a Penang Fire and Rescue Department officer, only one lane is currently open for users on the Penang Bridge.
