MIDDLEBORO — With the passing on Feb. 1, 2021, of Norman E. Record at age 93, a part of Middleboro's history passed with him. Record was a Korean War veteran and a well-known member of the police department.
Members of his family contacted former veterans service officer Paul Provencher and sought his assistance in possibly getting a sign designating the Four Corners area — the intersections of Center, North Main, South Main and Wareham streets — as Patrolman Norman E. Record Corners.
Provencher in turn contacted the Middleboro Board of Selectmen for approval of the family request. The board submitted the idea for a town meeting vote.
