Middleboro Four Corners could be renamed for late cop Norman Record

MIDDLEBORO With the passing on Feb. 1, 2021, of Norman E. Record at age 93, a part of Middleboro s history passed with him. Record was a Korean War veteran and a well-known member of the police department. Members of his family contacted former veterans service officer Paul Provencher and sought his assistance in possibly getting a sign designating the Four Corners area the intersections of Center, North Main, South Main and Wareham streets   as Patrolman Norman E. Record Corners. Provencher in turn contacted the Middleboro Board of Selectmen for approval of the family request. The board submitted the idea for a town meeting vote.

Record was a Korean War veteran and a well known member of the Police Department.  Members of his family contacted former Veterans Service officer Paul Provencher and sought his assistance in possibly getting a sign designating the Four Corners area as “Patrolman Norman E. Record Corners.” Provencher in turn contacted Middleborough’s Board of Selectmen for approval of the family request. The Board in turn submitted the idea for a Town Meeting vote. Middleborough’s Board of Selectmen have submitted a warrant article for the Monday. April 26, 2021 at 7:15 p.m. annual Town Meeting  at the auditorium of the Nichols Middle School asking voters’ opinion of the article.

Medal of Honor Bridge connects Middleboro and Carver Cameron Sinclaire Board of selectmen from both Middleboro and Carver have united to dedicate and memorialize three local heroes by renaming the Rochester Road/Pine Street bridge to “The Medal of Honor Bridge.” The Medal of Honor is the highest and most-prestigious personal military decoration that can be awarded to recognize U.S. military service members. It is given to those who have distinguished themselves by acts of valor. “In the entire history of North America, in all the wars that have been fought with the millions of men who were in those battles, there have only been 3,525 medals of honor awarded,” Middleboro resident and co-commander of the Simeon L. Nickerson American Legion Post 64 Robert Lessard explained.
