Temperatures are dropping down to 37 degrees which is dangerous for anyone out in a long time. Shelters around the city are expending their hours of operation ready to taking those in need. Officials will allow any adult who needs a place to occupy any vacant bed after 8 00 pm even without a reservation. We usually open at 7 00 until 7 00 but the city is requiring to open monday to wednesday for this climate 24 hours from monday to wednesday. It is really cold and the Homeless Community needs help. They are welcome in the facilities. Reporter the United Council of Human Services will be open 24 hours a day on jennings street and they are offering additional beds at the First Unitarian Church for the first 66 men who show up. Temperatures are expected to drop even lower tomorrow morning and the city is putting out one more advisory telling anybody who lives in San Francisco or in the bay area to check in on your neighbors, particularly those who are elderly or disabled. Another Group National School Walkout planned a similar protest for april 20, the anniversary of the columbine shooting. In parkland, florida some of the survivors of the shooting are demanding guncontrol. The students from Stoneman Douglas high school are planning a march march washington dc and they called the Movement Never again. Wednesday President Trump will be holding a listening session at the white house with students and teachers from Stoneman Douglas high school. On thursday he will meet with officials on the issue of school safety. Many students who survived the shooting are urging the president and others to do something about gun violence. The president visited parkland on friday where he met with injured students at a hospital and spent time with first responders. It was a tough weekend in south florida as more of the 17 parkland, Florida Shooting victims were buried. Some of the families went from funeral to funeral showing respect to all the victims killed. Students spoke about the victims and how the deaths is making them uneasy to even think about returning to school. She was only 14. I am so close to her age. She was only 14 and she did not deserve that. None of the kids did. The school has been closed since the shooting but it could open to students and staff on thursday. The students will fully return next week, in the meantime the school is Offering Counseling to the entire community. People in parkland have launched a petition for a special honor for one of the shooting victims. He is 15yearold peter waned. He was a junior rotc cadet who helped students teachers and staff escaped the shooting. He died in his rotc uniform. He wanted to go to west point. Now his friends say the government should give him full military honors at his funeral even though the rotc is not considered the military. The petition at whitehouse. Gov says he died performing heroic and selfless service. There are 20,000 signatures already and it would need 100,000 before the government will respond. A grass valley man booked into Sacramento County jail for selling ar 15 style guns that are almost untraceable. According to the sacramento b Michael Paul Smith was arrested thursday monday after the Florida Shooting for making and selling eight Assault Rifles known as ghost guns. The arrest stems from a five month long security investigation based on several sources including the darkwave, bitcoin payments and secret meetings. The guns are legal to make but illegal to sell. A fundraiser for firefighters this weekend did not go as planned when attendees saw the rifle raffle prizes were guns. Six men arrested over the weekend in berkeley after an undercover operation to catch laptop thieves. There have been several reports of stolen laptops especially near the cal campus. So we have a lot less traffic on the roads. The other crash from the top of the screen is eastbound highway 4 at railroad where a vehicle hit the sound wall. In the south bay northbound 17 to the northbound 280 connector it is not popping up on the map but chp has this logged as a collision from northbound 18 up to northbound 82. This part of 280 is looking good with traffic moving nicely in both directions. The same story for the 880 going through oakland past the colosseum. It has been light all morning because of the holiday and the san mateo bridge is pretty light throughout the morning but you can see on the right hand part of the screen there is a high wind advisory for the bridge and several other bay area bridges so chp warning, use caution keep your hands on the Steering Wheel. The time is 7 33 now lets get to the desk. There was a second fire in martinez this morning before 1 30 at a condominium complex that caught fire over the weekend. It happened at eastgate lane off of arnold drive and reignited from the fire on sunday. Helmet camera video was posted of fire crews battling the flareup. They had it under control by 1 50 this morning. More than a dozen people had already evacuated after the original fire started when a pot was left unattended on a kitchen stove. The potential for disaster is huge so dont ever leave something cooking on the stove unattended. If you have to walk away, turn it off just turn it on when you come back and dont keep anything combustible anywhere near the stove top. The 19yearold who left the pot of oil on the stove ran doortodoor waking up his neighbors when he realized what happens. Five units were damaged but everyone got out safely. One firefighter injured his knee on sunday but he is expected to be okay. Fire crews in san leandro were checking for flareups on garden street east of 880 after a fire yesterday morning at several commercial buildings. Nobody was hurt but several businesses were damaged. It is 7 34, bart police say that two teenagers were arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall accused of attacking a man in the parking lot of the ashby bart station. Leigh martinez reports on the latest in this string of attacks. The attack happened at the ashby station in berkeley, the victim says four teenagers attacked him but he could only identify two of them. So police are looking for more suspects. The victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital after he was hit in the back of the head by four teens at the ashby stacy parking lot on saturday. Police were able to arrest two juveniles. A similar attack happened friday night around 11 00 pm. Four teenagers punched a rider and stole his phone. Officers found the phone abandoned but the suspects ran away. 30 minutes later another rider says a man stole his laptop while he was on a train near the bay fair station. Police were unable to track down that suspect. At the lafayette station riders say that they feel comfortable during the commute hours. I do feel safe. I usually ride during commute hours so, yes it is okay. I have never seen anyone have anything happen but sometimes you can feel uncomfortable when it is late but it has been okay so far. Last spring mobs of teenagers beat up and robbed passengers in three separate incidents in march and april. The pilot of a small plane made an Emergency Landing on a bay area freeway after engine failure on the 101 in southern Santa Clara County. He saw a open meeting strip on highway 101 and that is when he started to land. There were no crashes and nobody got hurt. There was no property damage. A tow truck was called and the chp assisted in getting the plane off the freeway to the airport. The faa will inspect the plane. Santa rosa police launched a crackdown on a sideshow including 100 cars. This started saturday night at 11 00 when several caravans moved from intersection to parking lots mostly in the southwest part of the city. Officers followed the group for four hours and issued 49 total citations. It is not the first sideshow in santa rosa but they believe it was the largest. A number of funerals were held for the parkland School Shooting victims. Some people say they went from one funeral to the next to show their respect to all the victims who died in the shootings. Students spoke out about the victims and how the loss is making them a little uneasy even thinking about going back to school. She was only 14. I was so close to her age. She was only 14 and she did not deserve that. None of the kids deserve it. The school has been closed since the shooting but it could reopen to staff and teachers on thursday. Officials say there will be no classes until next week. The school is Offering Counseling to the entire school community. Wednesday President Trump will be holding a listening session at the white house with students and teachers from Stoneman Douglas high school in florida, then thursday the president will be meeting with state and local leaders. Many students who survived the shooting are urging the president and other elected officials to do something about gun violence. The president visited parkland on friday where he met with injured students at a hospital and spend time with first responders. Students are planning nationwide demonstrations demanding safer schools and gun control. The latest plans call for a walk out on march 14 that will last for 70 minutes, one minute for each life lost at the Stoneman Douglas high school. There was a second fire just before 1 30 am today at a condominium complex that caught fire over the weekend. The fire at eastgate lane reignited from sunday morning fire. The Fire Department also posted helmet camera video that we will share with you in a moment. You can see the crews fighting that fire and they had it under control by 1 50 this morning. Nobody was injured but more than a dozen people had been forced for their homes after the original fire which started after a pot was left unattended on a kitchen stove. A vigil was held saturday in tracy for a young woman left to die on a rural roadway in livermore, family and friends gathered to say goodbye to liz at cuesta, she was found one week ago suffering from stab wounds on tesla road.
