Apparently happened on van ness avenue in the tenderloin district croppers Michael Thomas in the city with more on exactly what happened. Michael. Well, Francisco Police say everythings still under investigation, but they tell me that that person hit by the bus did die on the scene, adding that they that the driver is cooperating. Take a look. This is what the scene looked like just right before 1 oclock this morning, you can see the drivers side windshield of that muni bus completely shattered. And heres a map on your screen of exactly where it is. It all happened near the corner of van ness avenue and ofarrell streets just west of the tenderloin area. San Francisco Police tell me that they did close off multiple streets. This was from around 3 in the morning to 5. 30, this morning as investigated. However, no details have been released regarding the person who passed away or the cause of the accident. They say that the driver is cooperating with them. What shows that theres been about a dozen pedestrians who have died this year because of a Traffic Accident last year. That number was around 20. Roads are back open as of right now. There are no reports at this moment about how many people were injured. Just that they were major injuries. The Contra Costa Sheriffs Department is now handling the investigation. Well, a man has been arrested for a shooting that happened on the campus of Stanford University. A woman apparently shot in the leg early tuesday morning. The man who Police Believe pulled the trigger was arrested later that evening at a trader joes after receiving calls about this man with a gun. There. When police arrived, they found him in the employees. Breakroom police say the woman who was shot is recovering the motive behind the shooting. Thats still unclear. Was arrested on suspicion of murder after human remains were found in some asked to pull. The Sonoma CountySheriffs Office says Mark Sullivan was reported missing on august 24th. And on this past saturday, officers were called to mclendon lane and thats where human remains. Were located there believed to be that of Mark Sullivan. But the Coroners Office is still working to confirm that. Meantime, a homeless man from Washington State has been arrested in connection with his death and hes currently being held without bail. And the north they were learning more now about the 2 bicyclists who were killed when some wood came loose from a flatbed Truck Driving in napa. It was a couple visiting from portland, oregon who were killed. This was tuesday morning. They were cycling on silverado trail. Their names, christian and michele d they were both legally riding a side of the road when wood fell off the back of this flatbed truck and struck them. The driver is cooperating with the investigation. Well, the Santa Clara County board of supervisors is now limiting how much housing Stanford University can build off campus. On tuesday. The board voted to modify the Stanford Community plan which was created back in 2000 to guide the development of land, which the university currently sits on. The board voted to maintain the universitys current growth boundary and requires that they build at least 75 of their new housing on campus. The supervisors also decided the university can not get out of building Affordable Housing by simply paying a fee. The state has ordered the county to build more than 3,000 new Affordable Housing units. Well, San Francisco, by the way, expected to have a record year, unfortunately, for fatal drug overdoses are on track to reach 800 deaths, which is more than we saw in 2021. 726 people died because of drug overdoses. The majority of the deaths reported this year by the medical Examiners Office are fentanyl related, but they also a case that was also the case over the last 3 years from january, through september of 2023, there been a total of 620 overdose deaths. Thats 2 fatal overdoses. A day and a majority caused by fentanyl director of Overdose Prevention policy and strategy says the Number One Solution is getting narc and into the hands of drug users to reverse overdoses. If you make drug use criminal, if you stigmatize people who use drugs, theyre going to go underground and 10 shalene more likely to overdose less support from community or Harm Reduction service provider. Well, one other solution, according to Health Experts in San Francisco is the citys new knight navigator program. Thats when a team of people go out. In fact, theyve gone out from 07 00pm to 03 00am for the last well, few weeks or so. Providing outreach. The executive director of code tender line says that on average 8 people in it are saying yes to go into sober centers or shelter spaces. But that fentanyls reach makes the work of Harm Reduction. Theyll be on there too. Well, the family of a couple allegedly killed by an Alameda County sheriffs deputy last year has filed a wrongful death lawsuit. Family says the couple had reported Devon Williams juniors, frightening behavior. They say a month before they were killed. But that no action was taken. According to the lawsuit when maria tran tried to end a personal relationship with the deputy back in august of 2022, he went to her home, demanding to speak. The family says that murray a better husband, venison called for help. But responding officer allegedly gave williams preferential treatment due to his status as a deputy maria and her husband dennis and were found dead with gunshot wounds inside their home on september. 7th williams has been identified as a suspect. He has been charged with 2 counts of murder with enhancements associated with the use of a firearm. He pleaded not guilty to all of those charges. This past december Alameda County man now accused of violating his estranged partners restraining order when he tried and were threatened to kill her for cheating. The Alameda CountyDistrict Attorneys Office says that jose terrorists stabbed and punched the woman before he kidnapped her last month. Prosecutors say that era held the victim hostage inside his home for a week until she was able to escape. Tara is now facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon. Supervisor Hillary Ronen says, though, that the legalize street vending has led to problems in the Mission District and in other areas around the city, she says that people have been selling stolen goods in some cases.
