robin, thank you john checking out the drive on 18 to san francisco still quite busy. it's going to stay like this for. >>couple more hours as the commute will wind down usually after 10 o'clock so packed into san francisco backed up through the maze nothing has changed here still under 15 minutes and still hot spot free. we are checking in on some of your approach is like 5.80 very busy from san leandro to downtown oakland, the same story for the nimitz so both are roughly 30 minutes to downtown oakland and then 2.80 north it's recovering from a crash at lawrence expressway so still busy but not bad just under 30 minutes as well on north to 80 from san jose to cupertino starting change. >>thanks a lot of data one let's get back to the breaking news this morning the covering is on the freeway and the second is at the airport and that was the shooting that happened early this morning, let's get the latest now from kron four's will tran he's been on it for us will for those of you are just joining us walk us through what happened this morning. >>it happened at around 3 o'clock in the morning in fremont this is maori you might be able to see that suv getting off a maori avenue in trying to hop on to the freeway northbound 8.80 that was shut down for a couple of hours it's free and clear now. let me show you some video that we got at around 04:30am in the morning you can clearly see officers at that location they shut it down because it turned into a crime scene as they went through there looking for shell casings in fact they were able to recover about 5 shell casings had the around 3 o'clock in the morning 2 cars were traveling along mari avenue hoping to hop on to the freeway. when shots rang out, let me show you see number 2. this is about say 2 miles from the on wrap this is at a fire station on fremont boulevard you can see the all those officers at the scene including fremont police officers. they came out because they got the call from 2 men in 2 separate cars who were shot at instead of pulling over right away they sped off. for a couple of exits got off went on to the city streets went to fremont set fire station call the police officers they came out there. we do know that one car was hit the black bmw a couple of times in the back bumper area got a chance to talk to the chp here's what they think happened. >>they're driving separate vehicles in tandem got on the route their statement was 2 vehicles pulled up alongside of them and they are shots 9 o we all know most vehicle shot or just they said it was 2 vehicles are followed. >>so those 2 cars the black bmw in the white mercedes actually were picked up near this location in the overnight hours i asked the officers that does seem a little strange and they said no, i mean it's and on our to pick up cars but nothing illegal about that. those 2 men they were driven and are escorted, i should say to the police department where they are currently being interviewed at this point they don't have any motive whether it's road rage or in fact they were targeted, but the good news is both those men they were not hit at all the search continues for those 2 other cars, snow descriptions of the scars other then they were sedans if you need to hop on the freeway, it was a mass fremont make no mistake about it is a big city and a lot of people had a hard time hopping onto the freeway. no problems now if you need to do that. >>back to you all right, thanks a lot. well that was on the freeway and then we had at the air force base breaking news at 2 flights carrying 350 us citizens from will have on china the epicenter of the corona virus landed in the dark this morning at travis air force base in fairfield and one of those planes is scheduled to head on to the miramar marine base down there cover sarah stinson actually live for us and if i'm not mistaken is this will be heading out any time now right there. >>yeah actually this is a live look right now of that plane that's taking off from a travis air base and they are about to take off. and head down south to san diego to that him marine corps air station so this is happening live as we speak 2 planes landed here earlier this morning wanted 03:00am another about 30 minutes later and this is full of about in total 350 passengers so that is what's happening some of the passengers will stay here travis air force base and they will undergo a 14 day quarantine other passengers in the other plane. the one that you showed you they will be doing that corn team down in san diego, this is all for precaution. if you take a live look this plane is about to take off as we speak. this is all out of precaution. they want to make sure that the corona virus does not spread in the us. these people came from move on china, the us citizens don't necessarily have the corona virus but they need to go through quarantined prove to provide that sense of certainty that they don't have it and that it will spread now look at that it is about to take and just because it's become very deadly virus once again >>often goes a people in that plane right now heading off to miramar air force the air station there the kron a virus has killed nearly 500 people and 24,000 people have been infected the death toll continues to climb and that is why they are making sure that these people go through this corn team. there hasn't been an order like this in about 50 years from the cdc's so. >>this is a big deal. but it's good that they're taking precaution. they want people to know that it is because they want to take precaution. but yeah, can't believe we just saw it take off that other plane again we'll stay here people stay here be be quarantined for 14 days and will continue to fall this. there's a press conference set for noon here in fairfield for nelson it back to you guys for noon ok thank you very much share will look for more information to come up and then there's the cruise ships 2 separate cruise ships under quarantine because of the corona virus. >>one being held in hong kong 3 passengers who were on the ship tested positive and then the crew started feeling. unwell so. their 1800 people on board of that they're being screened, but then there's the other ship bigger off the coast of japan. 3500 people on board and they are now under quarantine for 2 weeks because there were 10 people on board as passengers and one crew that had tested positive from around the world, one was american japan's health minister says that those are being those passengers being escorted to a special on location in japan, where they're going to be watched untreated and the rest of them are under quarantine. in the south bay there are 2 confirmed cases of corona virus, virus and 5 hospital workers a good samaritan may have been exposed so now they are under quarantine have to stay in their homes until february 11th one patient with the virus went to that hospital. january 28th, and even though he was wearing a mask out of an abundance of caution the 5 workers who came into contact with that patients were sent home. the health department is going to monitor those employees but right now they seem to be doing ok. and the corona virus. it had a minimal impact on travel out of san jose airport. other than suspending flights to china. the airport has been not had put any new rules into effect they've just been routinely disinfecting their surfaces and they say the risk for infections. there is low and santa clara county public health officer doctor sara cody agrees. a random person. >>you in the airport who may have passed by. a case someone with novel coronavirus would not be at risk you and i walking are not at risk of being infected with the novel coronavirus. >>doctor cody says there's no evidence that the virus is actively circulating at san jose's airport. >>well, san francisco international airport isn't taking any chances in fact they've instituted some new policies that are going to be impacting. specifically international travelers, some restrictions so the us government banned entry of all foreign nationals who have been in mainland china. any time in the last 14 days. but among them of course are countless full-time us workers who are in china right now on visas, working there now stranded there they can't come back to their jobs here in the us or to any other country that has a similar entry ban. >>one of the companies that were that we i've been working with and we're evaluating i'm on a global scale. we're looking at potentially a couple 1000 folks that are being impacted by this and continue to see airlines are reducing their flight schedules last friday, united airlines announced that by the end of this week they would have completely suspended all flights to and from mainland china we're now seeing some of the asian carriers air china china eastern china southern following suit with reductions
