Sai Prema Foundation will be assisting 500 families with grocery packs.
Foundation Director Sumeet Tappoo said this is in addition to their on-going national food distribution program.
"Through our project Annapoorna, we distribute grocery packs across Viti Levu, Vanua Levu and the maritime region to the underprivileged and needy families.”
He said since this program's commencement in 2016, they have had the opportunity to help thousands of individuals and families who cannot look after themselves.
“The pressure felt by families due to the current restricted movement situation has motivated the Foundation to do more.”
"We are deeply saddened by the plight faced by families particularly in Western Fiji where employment is heavily reliant upon the tourism industry.”
