Preferred plan for Lower Hunter Freight Corridor revealed July 13, 2021 The NSW Government has revealed it’s preferred route for the Lower Hunter Freight Corridor. There are four options that have been investigated, but the government’s preferred choice would see the line run alongside the M1 Motorway and travel through Holmesville, West Wallsend and Black Hill before reconnecting with the Hunter line. The 30-kilometre line would be dedicated to freight trains and cut down traffic congestion at the notorious Adamstown and Islington rail crossings. The NSW Government is right now consulting with stakeholders, landowners and the community on the recommended corridor route as part of the Draft Strategic Environmental Assessment report. ....
Amy Wentworth to focus on teamwork as New Philadelphia superintendent NEW PHILADELPHIA – The new superintendent of New Philadelphia City Schools wants to focus on unity and teamwork after she takes over the reins on Aug. 1. We want to make sure that we are in this together and that everybody understands that they are valued and they are important to this team, said Amy Wentworth. We couldn t do it without everybody being part of this. That s my big goal. Wentworth, who has been the district s assistant superintendent since 2015, was the unanimous choice of the board of education at a special meeting Thursday night. ....
Eight gardens, large and small, will be featured at the Holmes County Friends and Neighbors of OneEighty Garden Tour later this month. The tour will be held 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, June 26, with a rain date of noon-6 p.m., Sunday, June 27. There also will be a silent auction of garden related items. A map of retail stores in Historic Downtown Millersburg will be provided along with the garden tour map. Many of the shops and restaurants will offer a percentage off their merchandise when shown a Garden Tour Ticket. Tickets are $20 and available at any of the garden stops, as well as at Rodhe’s IGA on Glenn Drive in Millersburg, Commercial & Savings Banks in Millersburg and Berlin and Killbuck Savings Bank in Killbuck. Ohio has one of the largest numbers of puppy sellers on the list, with 16. Some of those breeders have been cited multiple times. Breeders can be included on the Horrible Hundred report for sick or injured dogs, inhumane and unsafe conditions, and a lack of protection from the heat and cold. Humane society officials said puppies from these dealers can be sold to families in every state because puppy mills sell to pet stores across the country. ....
