HÀ NỘI Moderate to heavy rains are expected in the northern region between April 6 and 14, according to the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting.
There will be scattered rain and thunderstorm in the northeast from the evening of April 12 to 14 in some areas. Hail and strong winds might occur.
The Central Highlands and southern region are forecast to enjoy sunny weather during the day and might experience showers and thunderstorms in some places at night. During a thunderstorm, there is a possibility of whirlwinds, lightning, and strong winds.

Northern and central Vietnam are likely to experience a cooler summer this year, with average temperatures dropping by up to one degree Celsius over previous years.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting attributes the lower summer temperatures than 2020 to the La Nina phenomenon persisting until April-May and the water surface temperature trend on the Pacific Ocean remaining in its cold phase.
As April is only a transitional time period between cold and hot temperatures, more cold spells are likely. A weak mass of cold air is expected to travel from Upper Laos to northern Vietnam regions Sunday, triggering rains and strong winds. Heavy rains and strong winds should be expected particularly in mountainous areas, the center said.

Amid higher temperatures, the ultraviolet index in the southern Vietnamese region has risen to extreme levels, posing health threats to people exposed to the sun, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
Between Monday and Wednesday, the upstream area of the Mekong River and the southern region will continue to undergo a prolonged period of no rainfall and intense sun during the daytime, which will increase the salinity levels and UV index.
The lowest temperature in the southern region is commonly around 21 to 24 degrees Celsius, while the highest is 31-34 degrees Celsius.

People in localities across the southern region of Vietnam are likely to experience a hot weekend on Saturday and Sunday, according to the Southern Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
The cities of Bien Hoa and Long Khanh in Dong Nai Province, and Dong Xoai in Binh Phuoc Province will have the temperature of approximately 35 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
But the real feel can approach 38 degrees Celsius.
In the Mekong Delta region, the temperature in Vi Thanh City in Hau Giang Province, Can Tho City, and Vinh Long Province will be over 34 degrees Celsius.
