Dong Thap diversifies its offers
According to its tourism development plan over the last few years, Dong Thap has focused on developing agricultural ecotourism and community-based tourism to increase the experience and enhance the capacity for businesses in sustainable development.
Dong Thap Peopleâs Committee has approved 14 new community-based tourism areas in the province in 2021. For instance, Sa Dec city counts five most-visited spots, including the Thi Tho rose garden, Huong Que Ecological Garden, and Loi Xua Homestay. Meanwhile, two popular community-based tourism spots in Hong Ngu city are the Hoang Yen and Tu Lu homestays.

According to the Cu Lao Dung People’s Committee, Tuyen owes money to many people. She went to Dong Thap Province to avoid meeting people in her area. On March 29, Tuyen bought a coffin in Dong Thap and hired a car driver to carry the coffin to her home, where she organized a fake funeral.

Vietnam to prioritise key projects of the Mekong Delta
The Standing Committee of the National Assembly issued Resolution No.973/2020/UBTVQH14 dated July 8, 2020, regulating the principles, criteria, and norms of allocating public investment using the state budget for 2021-2025, which stipulates the scoring criteria for the high Mekong Delta region than other regions in the country.
According to Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment, the total allocated state budget for investment is about VND388 trillion ($16.87 billion) for the local projects in the period of 2021-2025.
The capital will be allocated for completing a number of key projects like the entire highway from Trung Luong-Can Tho, Can Tho-Ca Mau, linking-region routes, and lots of national highways in the Mekong Delta.

Thereby, over numerous tenures, especially in 2016-2020, the government poured a lot of resources into developing the transport system of the Mekong River Delta. In Resolution No.120/NQ-CP dated November 17, 2017 on the sustainable and climate-resilient development of the Mekong Delta, the government highlighted the disadvantages of the local transport system that cannot accommodate the potential of the province.
