A head-on collision on State Route 1 near Devil s Slide Trail, between Montara and Pacifica, sent both drivers to the hospital and closed the highway in both directions for about an hour Sunday night, said a spokesman for California Highway Patrol San Francisco.
A driver headed northbound on Highway 1 lost control for unknown reasons just south of Tom Lantos Tunnels in San Mateo County, said CHP Officer Mark Andrews. The vehicle veered up the rocks and then back across all lanes of traffic until colliding head-on with another vehicle going southbound on the highway, he said.
