CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson track and field program is back on the road as the team travels to Gainesville, Fla., ahead of its two days of competition at the Florida Relays from April 2-3. This will serve as the third weekend of competition for Clemson during the outdoor campaign and will be the second time in eight years that the team competes in the meet. Clemson enters the Florida Relays after two strong weekends of competition, as the Tigers have already combined for 35 personal bests and eight top-10 marks in the program’s record book.
The trio of Veronica Fraley, Danielle Sloley and Zico Campbell have been excellent in the shot put ring this season, as the three athletes have each recorded a top-10 mark on their respective all-time lists in each of the opening two meets of the season. Roje Stona returned to competition for the first time in nearly a month at the FSU Relays, winning the men’s discus competition and eclipsing the 58-meter mark on three of his six throws.

ACC Championships Preview: Throws
As the 2021 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships draw near, we’ll provide a preview of what to expect from each event group while also reviewing their excellent achievements during the first six meets of the season.
Over the years, assistant coach Shawn Cobey has cultivated a talented group of throwers for the Clemson track and field program. As the Tigers now look ahead to the 2021 ACC Indoor Championships on Feb. 25-27, it’s no surprise that Cobey’s group is well-positioned to have a successful showing at the three-day meet.
On the men’s side, Roje Stona and Zico Campbell have been historic in the men’s shot put throughout the 2021 indoor campaign. Led by Stona, Clemson’s male throwing duo currently sits at sixth and seventh, respectively, in the ACC for the shot put. CLEMSON, S.C. - On his third attempt during the men’s shot put competition, Roje Stona threw his name into the Tigers’ top 5 all-time list thanks to his toss of 17.94 meters (58 feet, 10 and one-quarter inches). Entering the weekend, Stona touted a personal best of 17.56m previously the No. 6 mark on the Tigers’ all-time list set at the 2020 ACC Indoor Championships. Stona’s performance on Friday now places the sophomore discus specialist ahead of teammate Zico Campbell by one centimeter. “Talking to coach [Shawn] Cobey, we knew that he was ready to hit one in what is his second event,” said Mark Elliott, Clemson’s Director of Track & Field. “Two weeks out from ACC’s, we know that he [Roje] is going to be ready to compete, and Zico [Campbell] will be right there with him.” Trishauna Hemmings showed that she is rounding into championship form in the 60-meter hurdles after contributing a pair of top-class performances Friday afternoon.
