Clemson s Women Finish Fifth, Men Sixth at 2021 ACC Outdoor Championships – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

RALEIGH, N.C.  The Clemson track and field program concluded competition at the 2021 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday evening after seeing its women’s team score 69 points to finish in a tie for fifth, and its men’s team score 65 points to finish in sixth. Saturday’s action saw Clemson capture two ACC titles at 800 meters, garner seven first-team All-ACC honors, and collect 12 second-team All-ACC accolades. Kameron Jones became the best men’s 800m runner in Clemson history after setting a new school record of 1:45.47 en route to winning the event’s final on Saturday. In addition to the new school record, Jones also set a meet record and facility record while becoming the fastest collegiate athlete at the distance this season. The previous meet record stood at 1:46.66 and was held by Virginia’s Paul Ereng following his performance at the 1988 conference championships. Track & Field Travels to Athens, Knoxville for Weekend Competition

CLEMSON, S.C. The Clemson track and field program will compete at this weekend’s Torrin Lawrence Memorial in Athens, Ga., from April 30 to May 1, as well as the Tennessee Challenge in Knoxville, Tenn., on May 1. The pair of meets during the weekend is in addition to the Tigers’ participation at the UNF Invitational from April 29-30. “We have to go where we can to hit marks,” said Clemson’s Director of Track & Field Mark Elliott. “Georgia always provides a good meet before the conference championships, and it’s close to home and that works well because our group is still taking finals for their classes.”

Historic Field Event Marks Propel Tigers at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla.  A pair of No. 8 all-time performances from Harleigh White and Danielle Sloley in the women’s triple jump and shot put, respectively, proved to be the highlights of Saturday’s action for the Clemson track and field program as the 2021 Florida Relays concluded this afternoon. In total, the Tigers had six top-five finishes during the final day of competition, including one event victory courtesy of Roje Stona in the men’s discus. “[This weekend] gave our kids a good idea of what they can expect at the end of the season,” said Clemson’s Director of Track & Field, Mark Elliott. “There were a lot of teams at the meet that are ranked high nationally, and they are the competition we want to test ourselves against. I was excited that we got to do that.”

Stona s Success Highlights Tigers Friday Performance – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

CLEMSON, S.C. - On his third attempt during the men’s shot put competition, Roje Stona threw his name into the Tigers’ top 5 all-time list thanks to his toss of 17.94 meters (58 feet, 10 and one-quarter inches). Entering the weekend, Stona touted a personal best of 17.56m previously the No. 6 mark on the Tigers’ all-time list set at the 2020 ACC Indoor Championships. Stona’s performance on Friday now places the sophomore discus specialist ahead of teammate Zico Campbell by one centimeter. “Talking to coach [Shawn] Cobey, we knew that he was ready to hit one in what is his second event,” said Mark Elliott, Clemson’s Director of Track & Field. “Two weeks out from ACC’s, we know that he [Roje] is going to be ready to compete, and Zico [Campbell] will be right there with him.”   Trishauna Hemmings showed that she is rounding into championship form in the 60-meter hurdles after contributing a pair of top-class performances Friday afternoon.
