Advertisement The Victorian government will splash $492 million to build 13 new schools and a further $340 million will be invested to upgrade 52 schools as part of funding announced in Thursdayâs state budget. All 13 new schools will be located on Melbourneâs fringe, where population growth has surged in recent years, particularly in the north and west. Secondary schools will be built within kilometres of each other in Wollert East and Wollert West, in Melbourneâs north. Twelve are set to be completed by 2023 and the other in 2024. The government will also spend $276.4 million acquiring land in the local government areas of Cardinia, Casey, Hume, Melton, Mitchell, Port Phillip and Wyndham for future school sites. ....
Date Time Construction surges ahead at Wollert East Community Centre The development of the new community centre in Wollert East reached an exciting milestone this week, with the completion of the concrete foundation providing an expansive base for the highly-anticipated community services hub. City of Whittlesea Administrator Peita Duncan was joined by The Hon. Lily D’Ambrosio MP and Bronwyn Halfpenny MP to inspect the progress of the future multi-purpose community centre and proudly oversaw the concrete pouring. The centre, located on De Rossi Boulevard, will provide essential services to the booming population in the city’s north. It will include a modern three‑room kindergarten, two fully equipped maternal and child health consulting suites, a community hall, meeting spaces for community groups and an outdoor area. ....
