Around 100 employees will be transferred, some to Painted Post in Steuben County

Siemens Energy will lay off approximately 430 employees and transfer another 100 to other facilities, including in Painted Post, as the company downsizes the workforce at its Olean plant.
Siemens Energy currently employs more than 800 at the Olean facility. Most of the jobs affected by Tuesday’s announcement are manufacturing positions, with Siemens announcing it will lay off 7,800 across its global workforce by 2025 as the company restructures its Power and Gas division.
Officials anticipate the employee transfers and layoffs will be implemented in phases over the next year, extending into the middle of 2022.

As the last of the Siemens AG/Dresser-Rand plant workers left the 100-acre complex in April, Craig Clark admitted he was concerned about the fate of the sprawling Allegany County industrial complex. It was a big concern, said Clark, executive director, Allegany County Industrial Development Agency. It kept me up at night.
Then Rochester investors Alan Knauf and Joseph Meindl provided what Clark believes is the answer. Through their Wellsville Business Park LLC affiliate, the two bought the plant and will transform it into Allegany County s first industrial park. The deal closed in December.
