Blazers blue-liner from Saanich, Sean Strange, ready for last career game against Royals

Flying under the radar in this Island defensive horn of plenty has been Sean Strange of Saanich, who has carved out a steady four-season junior career with the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL. That is despite going only in the 10th round, 202nd overall, in the 2015 bantam draft as Kamloops’ final pick.
“People didn’t have too high expectations of me but I worked hard each season, and also during summers back home on the Island, and I’m proud of my career,” said the graduate of the Saanich Minor Hockey Association and South Island Royals midget team.

Mustangs commit B.C. born forward for 2021/2022

The Melfort Mustangs have gone way out west for their latest commitment.
Dylan Franklin, a 2002-born forward, has committed to the Mustangs for the 2021/2022 season.
The Lake Cowichan, B.C. product began the 2020/2021 season with the Campbell River Storm in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) which is the B.C. Junior B ranks. In 13 games this season, Franklin scored eight goals and added another eight assists for 16 points. He was tied for ninth in league scoring at the time of the pause.
“Dylan is a very well rounded player who does all the right things.” Mustangs head coach and general manager Trevor Blevins said in a release. “He has a lot of speed and skill and has had a successful 2020-21 season. He will be a great add to our program this fall.” ....

Brett Set To Play At Finlandia - ABC 10/CW5

HANCOCK, Mich. – Sheldon Brett (Comox Valley, British Columbia) has committed to play for the Finlandia University men’s hockey team. He is planning on majoring in Business.
Brett played the last two years at Bryn Athyn. In 2019-20, he scored four goals with 10 assists for 14 points. Brett helped the Lions to have their first winning season in program history.
Head coach Joe Burcar says “Sheldon brings a tremendous amount of experience to our team, his background includes games played in the VIJHL and BCHL junior leagues. We are excited to have Sheldon join our program, school and community.” ....
