Greenville Police blotter WARRANT May 13, 12:43 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to Speedway at 201 Wagner Avenue in reference to a subject operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Upon arrival, police located driver Ariel Stewart and front seat passenger Lyman Coleman. Stewart, the subject reportedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated showed no signs of impairment. Coleman was found to have an active warrant for failure to appear on a driving under a suspended license citation. Police arrested Coleman and transported him to the Darke County Jail and held on a bond of $575. DRUGS May 4, 4:55 p.m.: Police arrived at the 300 block of West Water Street in response to a drug overdose. Upon arrival, officers located a female subject, blue in color, laying unresponsive on the floor next to the bed in the bedroom. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Mike Stegall and Larry Holmes were all present. Dr. Roseanne Scammahorn, educator in family and consumer sciences at The Ohio State University Extension, gave the board an update on the extension. Scammahorn said the agriculture and natural resources department is planting manure side-dress research, planting early soybeans and continues to make farm visits and cold calls to producers and agricultural industry partners. She added the agricultural program continues to scout Darke County acreage in each major crop one day a week at minimum. ....
Council hears water, sewer tax 1st reading By Erik Martin - DarkeCountyMedia.com GREENVILLE Tuesday evening, Greenville City Council heard its first reading of a revised ordinance increasing water and sewer rates for city residents, effective Sept. 1, 2021. Under the proposed ordinance, water and sewer rates will increase by 20 percent each September through September 1, 2023, and 10 percent each March through March 1, 2024. The year 2025 will see a locked-in 5 percent increase. Funds generated by the rate increases will go into the city’s wastewater and water infrastructure funds as follows: -Wastewater: 2022 – $1 million; 2023 – $2.5 million; 2024 – $3 million -Water: 2022 – $400,000; 2023 – $500,000; 2024 – $1.2 million Council will hear a second reading of the ordinance at its next meeting, May 18. ....
