Bay City extends state of emergency to allow virtual meetings through June 30 Updated 12:47 PM; Facebook Share BAY CITY, MI The Bay City Commission approved an action during its last meeting that will allow virtual city meetings to continue into the summer months. During the Monday, April 4 regular meeting, the commission unanimously approved a resolution that extended a recently issued local state of emergency until June 30. Bay City Mayor Kathleen Newsham previously declared the local state of emergency for the city on Wednesday, March 31, to allow the city to have virtual meetings without violating the Open Meetings Act. The original declaration was made by Newsham as PA 254 of 2020 expired on April 1, which specifically addressed the use of virtual meetings and the Open Meetings Act. ....
