Local Pastors Say In-Person Church Attendance Down Due To Pandemic

With vaccines readily available, restaurants, malls and even sporting events back to capacity, it appears we’re on the downside of this pandemic. However, churches are struggling with physical attendance. 
“In person maybe about twenty five percent of what we were used to” said Rodney Payne, pastor of Bethlehem Star Baptist church. 
Most churches anticipated last year’s COVID challenges, but not to this extreme.
“There were going to be a large percentage of people that were attracted to the online option,” Terry Bates, Pastor of Faith Church OKC said. “To be able to sit at home, not get out, and go into the elements, and just the convenience.”  ....

OKC churches go outside for Easter services after COVID cancellations

For many Christian preachers and their congregations, Easter 2020 brought an unthinkable scenario to vivid life: Church buildings were closed on the holiest day in the Christian calendar.
This year, most metro-area churches are hosting in-person worship services to celebrate Christ s resurrection, and several have literally thought outside the box by offering outdoor Easter services  in a variety of locations  because the COVID-19 pandemic is still a concern. 
Frontline Edmond will host 9 and 11 a.m. worship services on Sunday at the Mitch Park Amphitheater, 1501 W Covell in Edmond.
Fifth Street Baptist Church is planning a Pull Up and Praise Easter service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday outside Millwood High School, 6724 N Martin Luther King Ave. ....
