Harrisburg Eviction Moratorium Extended Again
(Harrisburg, PA)   Harrisburg s eviction moratorium is being extended for the fifth time since the beginning of the pandemic. Mayor Eric Papenfuse announced the extension on Friday. Under the moratorium, the city is suspending the eviction, ejectment or displacement of tenants or occupants from any residential dwelling unit as well as prohibiting water shut-offs for any delinquency or non-payment. With the new extension, it will now be in effect until June 15th.
Police Investigating Murder-Suicide In Dauphin County
(Swatara Township, PA)   Authorities are investigating a murder suicide in Dauphin County. The incident happened around midnight on Friday at a home in the 600- block of Mohn Street in Swatara Township. Police say they were dispatched to a reported domestic incident, and that s when officers found a man and woman dead from gunshot wounds inside the house. ....

ALLENTOWN – A Lancaster man alleges that he was unlawfully assaulted, battered and tased with deadly force, without justification and in violation of his civil rights by local police officers in 2019.
Ivan Ruiz-Rivera filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on May 6 versus the City and County of Lancaster, Lancaster County Police Officers Bingham and Lapp, John Does 1-5 and ABC Corporations 1-25. All parties are of Lancaster.
“On or about Dec. 6, 2019, at 5:04 a.m., defendant Bingham, alleged that he was dispatched to 33 Belmont Street, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, regarding an incident of domestic violence that involved the plaintiff, Ruiz-Rivera. The aforementioned call did not come from the residence in question, nor did it come from anyone who lived within the residence,” the suit states. ....

Lancaster City Police Retiring Horse That Has Served For About 20 Years
(Lancaster, PA)   The Lancaster City Police Department is retiring a horse that has been in service for about 20 years. A 22-year-old Percheron named Duke will now be living the rest of his life on a private farm. He has been a part of many memorable protection details including serving at the G20 summit in Pittsburgh in 2009 and protecting Pope Francis during his visit to Philadelphia in 2015. Lancaster City Police recently introduced a new horse named Jake, who will begin patrolling the city s downtown area this month.

LANCASTER, Pa. A Lancaster City Police horse is hanging up his saddle after nearly two decades on the job. In his place, two new horses are joining the force and they have some big hooves to fill.
Duke, a 22-year-old Percheron, is a unique, but important veteran of the Lancaster City Police Department. His days on the job are coming to an end and the Mounted Patrol officer is retiring after 18 years on the force. ....
