Stark County-area schools to address COVID-19 pandemic learning gaps

More Stark County-area students will be attending summer programs this year as school districts try to catch students up academically to where they would have been if the coronavirus pandemic hadn’t upended their education for the past year.
At least 21 of the 24 Stark County-area school districts are planning to hold some type of educational summer program for students who need some help making up for the lost days in the classroom due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to plans the districts submitted to the Ohio Department of Education or posted on their own websites.

Stark County schools monitor coronavirus vaccine side effects

The Independent
As more teachers and school employees receive the COVID-19 vaccine, Stark County schools are on alert for possible side effects.
The Massillon City School District has canceled in-person classes on the day after employees in the school building get their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The students will instead learn remotely.
Superintendent Paul Salvino decision to move to remote learning is a proactive step.

We have a very sound remote learning plan that our administration and teachers have worked so productively and together on and I am extremely confident in our ability to serve our students remotely when needed. ....
