Kent Police enforce school zone speed cameras as students return to in-person learning
The Kent Police Department began enforcing six speed cameras, Tuesday, near elementary schools to make sure drivers are using caution in school zones.
KENT, Wash. - Drivers in Kent are getting back into routine seeing students heading to class again. Kindergarten through 6th graders are now in school for in-person instruction at Kent School District after more than a year of remote learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Kent Police Department began enforcing six speed cameras on Tuesday near elementary schools to make sure drivers are using caution in school zones. Enforcement times and locations were posted on the department s Facebook page.

When the pandemic hit last spring, Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center had to adapt overnight to a new normal.
“Within the walls of the hospital, we had to look at the various roles and skills of our healthcare workforce and be ready to adapt and to be working in different areas to use different skills and to be willing to be trained in new areas,” said Ronda Lehman, president of Mercy Health Lima. “We needed to reach out to patients in a different way. Mercy Health joins health equity pledge
LIMA Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center on Thursday joined with 22 health systems in the Catholic Health Association (CHA) to prioritize equity in its COVID-19 response and confront systemic racism in health care.
The initiative, Confronting Racism by Achieving Health Equity, pledges to advocate for equitable distribution and access to COVID-19 testing, vaccines and new treatments, as well as reevaluate the way participating health care systems operate so that recruitment, hiring, promotion and retention standards are more equitable.
The pledge also calls on participating health networks to delivery culturally competent health care and improve their relationships with minority communities, in part by opposing public policies that perpetuate iniquities.
