LIMA Where would we be without the skilled healthcare professions in the community? Probably in a lot worse shape in light of the ongoing pandemic.
When the pandemic hit last spring, Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center had to adapt overnight to a new normal.
“Within the walls of the hospital, we had to look at the various roles and skills of our healthcare workforce and be ready to adapt and to be working in different areas to use different skills and to be willing to be trained in new areas,” said Ronda Lehman, president of Mercy Health Lima. “We needed to reach out to patients in a different way. Mercy Health-St. Rita's earns 'A' grade from watchdog safety group

Mercy Health-St. Rita’s earns ‘A’ grade from watchdog safety group
LIMA Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center received an A safety rating from national watchdog organization the Leapfrog Group, which assigns safety grades to general hospitals every six months. The watchdog group rates hospitals based on how well they were able to prevent medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients.
This is St. Rita’s sixth consecutive A rating from the Leapfrog Group.
“The St. Rita’s team has remained steadfast in our commitment to provide the highest quality, most compassionate care to our community, even during such an unprecedented year in health care,” Ronda Lehman, president of Mercy Health-Lima, said in a statement about the rating. “This recognition shows that despite the many challenges our teams have encountered, St. Rita’s will always put the care of our patients first.” ....
