In-person commencement programs honor new Behrend graduates
Penn State Behrend celebrated the Class of 2021 with two in-person, outdoor commencement programs on Saturday, May 8.
Penn State Behrend awarded 669 undergraduate and graduate degrees at two outdoor ceremonies on Saturday, May 8. The ceremonies were held at the Behrend soccer stadium, with COVID safety protocols in place for the duration of each program.
The graduates also were honored during Penn State’s virtual commencement program. A recording of that program can be viewed at https://virtual.commencement.psu.edu/.
At Behrend, in chairs spaced six feet apart, the graduates heard from Chancellor Ralph Ford, who discussed the unique circumstances of this academic year and the perseverance of the Class of 2021. ....

Penn State Behrend awarded 669 undergraduate and graduate degrees at two outdoor ceremonies on Saturday, May 8. The ceremonies were held at the Behrend soccer stadium, with COVID safety protocols in place for the duration of each program.

Commencement programs to celebrate Behrend's 2021 graduates

Penn State Behrend will host two in-person, outdoor commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 8.
Penn State Behrend will host two in-person commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 8, at the Behrend soccer stadium. Graduates of the Black School of Business and the School of Science will be honored beginning at 10 a.m.; graduates of the School of Engineering and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences will be honored beginning at 3 p.m.
A total of 669 degrees will be awarded. COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place during each program.
All graduates and guests must have tickets to enter the stadium. Facemasks and physical distancing will be required. Details are at our commencement page. ....

ERIE, Pa. A $6.6 million renovation and expansion of Penn State Behrend’s Federal House – the oldest brick building in Harborcreek Township – is underway, with cranes and earth-moving equipment preparing the site for an 11,000-square-foot upgrade.
The project, which began in January, will create a new home for the Susan Hirt Hagen Center for Community Outreach, Research and Evaluation (CORE), which provides school-focused and community programs to more than 3,000 youth across the Erie region every year. ....

Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha will discuss her work as a clinician and community advocate when the Speaker Series resumes on April 13.
Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, the pediatrician who exposed the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, will discuss her work as a clinician and community advocate when the Speaker Series at Penn State Behrend resumes on April 13.
The program, which is open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. on Zoom. A link and additional details are available at behrend.psu.edu/speakerseries.
Dr. Hanna-Attisha is the founder and director of the Pediatric Public Health Initiative at Michigan State University and Hurley Medical Center Children’s Hospital. In 2014, when the city of Flint, hoping to save money, began to draw its drinking water from the Flint River, she learned the move had introduced high levels of lead into the community’s water supply. ....
