Alicyn Rhoades, an expert in polymer engineering and a faculty member at Penn State Behrend, has been named vice chancellor and associate dean for research and graduate studies at the college. She will lead the strategy, planning and administration of research, graduate programs, and research and outreach centers at Behrend, where she has taught since 2012.
Penn State Behrend’s celebration of Black History Month continued with a free concert by African Soul International, a drum-and-dance troupe that has performed with Beyoncé.
A new partnership with the Eagle’s Nest Leadership Corporation will expand Penn State Behrend’s Open Lab model of learning to neighborhoods on Erie’s east side. Behrend faculty members and students will provide training and workshops in financial literacy, entrepreneurial thinking, STEM learning and other skills.
The Penn State Board of Trustees Committee on Finance, Business and Capital Planning advanced a proposal to rename Penn State Behrend’s Federal House, where a major renovation and expansion project is creating a new home for the Susan Hirt Hagen Center for Community Outreach, Research and Evaluation.
