DANVILLE, Va. â On the brisk morning of Saturday, April 24, Swiftwater Rescue team members of the Danville Life Saving Crew embarked on a day of water training in the Dan River. Although it was a chilly, rainy day on all radars, that did not put a damper on the teamâs dedication to sharpen their skills in responding to local residentsâ needs.
âWhen emergencies occur, it is rarely a beautiful, sunny and 75-degree day. Anything can happen at any time, and we all have to be prepared to accomplish the task regardless of the elements,â said Medic Charlotte Newnam, who coordinated the dayâs training.
