After 50 years, new Middleboro High School to open on April 27

MIDDLEBORO  Two years and a month after the beginning of construction, the new Middleboro High School is ready for occupation.  “We are very pleased with the work of the design, management and construction teams, and the end result is a truly lovely and very useful facility that should make the town proud,” said Rob Desrosiers, chair of the Middleboro High School Building Committee. Spring break is this week, but by next week, April 27, students, faculty and staff will be inside the new building, though still on a cohort hybrid schedule for most until the state decides on a timetable for grades 9 to 12, which will probably be in May.

Middleboro Select Board meeting

Action to change Rochester Road Bridge to Medal of Honor Bridge The Board announced that legislation is being proposed in the State House to change the name of the new Rochester Road Bridge to the Medal of Honor Bridge.  The proposed name is being chosen in recognition of three Medal of Honor recipients from the towns of Middleboro and Carver: Lowell M. Maxham; Patrick Regan and Wayne M. Caron.  Maxham is from Carver while Regan and Caron are from Middleboro.  The legislation is being spearheaded by Massachusetts Representative Susan Williams Gifford, whose office provided the language for the bill.  Select Board Chair Leilani Dalpe, while reading the bill to the public so the Board can vote to approve the proposed legislation, noted that the town of Middleboro is the only town in the nation to have multiple Medal of Honor recipients.
