Yellow Jackets Subdued by Owls

KENNESAW, Ga. – Georgia Tech softball (14-25) was unable to make up for a sluggish start against Kennesaw State (22-19), falling 5-2 on Friday at Bailey Park. The Yellow Jackets rallied in the top of the seventh to fill the base path, but failed to capitalize on the opportunity despite the go-ahead run stepping to the plate twice. Kennesaw State adversely got off to a quick start, knocking a leadoff homerun in the bottom of the first. The Owls added three more runs in the third by way of an RBI double and a following single that scored two to take a 4-0 lead. Yellow Jackets Swarm Panthers Late for 11-4 Win

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech softball (8-15) trounced Pitt 11-4 on Sunday, evening the series by catching fire at the plate to score 10 runs in the final two at-bats. Senior utility player Breanna Roper put an exclamation point on her weekend by leading the Jacket bats going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored thanks in large part to a three-run jack in the fifth. Pitt got going with another hot start in the top of the first, jumping ahead 2-0 by way of an RBI groundout and an RBI double. Jackets Unable to Hang on Against NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – Georgia Tech softball (5-11) dropped to NC State 7-4 in the first game of the weekend series on Friday. The Yellow Jackets took the lead early with three runs in the top of the first, but were unable to sustain the lead throughout the game. The Jackets kicked off the game with a bang as junior utility player Breanna Roper led off with a solo shot over right center in the top of the first. After a single by senior outfielder Cameron Stanford, senior first baseman Tricia Awald extended the lead with a two-run no-doubter to give Georgia Tech a 3-0 lead.

Yellow Jackets downed by No 19 Georgia

Crosby Huckabay were the two Jackets that landed in the hit column. Georgia Tech used four arms through the contest in senior right hander Morgan Bruce (starter), senior lefty Madison McPherson, fellow senior lefty Naomi Dickerson and junior right hander Lexi Ray. Up Next Georgia Tech will take its first road trip of the season next week, traveling to NC State for a four-game weekend series beginning Friday in Raleigh, N.C.
