Georgia Tech Outdueled by No 15 Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Georgia Tech softball (13-23) was outdone by No. 15 Virginia Tech (28-7), falling 12-0 in the series finale at Tech Softball Park on Sunday. Sophomore right hander Blake Neleman made her 12th start and 18th appearance in the circle this season as three other Jacket pitchers saw action throughout the game ( Naomi Dickerson, Lexi Ray, Palmer Pinholster). Virginia Tech went up early, scoring the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly in the opening frame. The Hokies followed that with a pair of two-run homeruns and three-run bombs in the second and third innings to take an 11-0 lead. Virginia Tech added one more solo shot in the fourth to come away with the 12-0 win in five innings.

Yellow Jackets downed by No 19 Georgia

Crosby Huckabay were the two Jackets that landed in the hit column. Georgia Tech used four arms through the contest in senior right hander Morgan Bruce (starter), senior lefty Madison McPherson, fellow senior lefty Naomi Dickerson and junior right hander Lexi Ray. Up Next Georgia Tech will take its first road trip of the season next week, traveling to NC State for a four-game weekend series beginning Friday in Raleigh, N.C. Yellow Jackets Drop Tight Doubleheader to Clemson

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech softball (5-6) came up short in a pair of heartbreakers against Clemson on Sunday, losing both contests by a combine three runs. The Yellow Jackets trailed by a run going into the bottom of the sixth before falling game one, 5-3. Tech ignited a three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh of game two to trim Clemson’s lead to one, but the comeback bid fell shy, resulting in a 5-4 loss. The Jackets made a number of notable defensive plays throughout the day, highlighted by freshman shortstop Jin Sileo’s triple play. Game One: Clemson got on the board first in game one, scoring three runs on an RBI single and a two-run homerun to follow in the bottom of the first.
