Three Mackay Whitsunday youth will find out if they have what it takes to become a politician as part of a “unique” Queensland program.
Whitsunday MP Amanda Camm said Nikkia Goodall of Mackay, Jessie Borg of Mirani and Dominic McCarthy from the Whitsundays were chosen for the assembly of the 26th Queensland Youth Parliament.
“I would like to congratulate the three youth members,” Ms Camm said.
“This opportunity allows youth leaders to participate in a six-month program including being part of a committee to propose law reform, participating in community consultations and debating their Bill in a youth parliament.”

Daily Mercury s My Town series will head to the Mirani Library on Tuesday, March 9, to meet with locals about what they think makes the area great, but also delve into what more is needed to make their home even better.
Council is recommending people stay out of the water at Platypus Beach almost a fortnight after dangerous bacteria was detected there.
A Mackay Regional Council statement issued on Friday said ongoing tests showed little change to moderate E.coli and Intestinal Enterococci levels.
“Council recommends that members of the public don’t swim in the area,” the statement said.
