The final score doesn’t indicte how well Kuemper played on Saturday afternoon. Cherokee hit three early 3’s to jump ahead 11-0. Kuemper trailed 23-10 after the 1 st quarter but hung right with the number 1 ranked team in the state for the 2 nd and 3 nd quarter 25-20 and the 3 rd quarter 12-7 as the Knights found themselves down 23 at the end of the 3 rd. The game stayed mainly between 15-21 ponts most of the 2 nd and 3 rd quarters. Kuemper did a nice job hanlding the man to man full court pressure and shot the ball well fron down town with Gifford and Catherine Mayhall each making 3-3’s and Kyndal Hilgenberg draining 1. The Carroll Tigers were able to add another win to their impressive season with a strong showing against the Carlisle Wildcats. The Tigers would start off the battle of the big cats with a closer than expected first quarter with the Tigers taking a 19-13 lead. The six point Carroll lead would turn into 16 by halftime at 38-22. Kaleb Booth would lead the Tigers with nine first half points.
The points would continue to come and the defense would get stronger for the Tigers in the second half. They would keep the Wildcats to seven third quarter points while they packed on 17 points in the third. The Tigers would have a closer fourth quarter as their bench players would get some playing time. The Tigers would still come out on top in the fourth quarter going 19-16 and winning this contest 74-45. ....
The Carroll Tigers continued their dominant ways by adding another victory to their undefeated season, beating Boone on Tuesday night. Right out of the gate, the Tigers dominated the Toreadors and never gave up the lead. The Tigers would escape the first quarter scoring 20 points and left Boone with only seven points. In the second quarter, it was much of the same dominant basketball from the top ranked team in the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers left no room for the Toreadors to score leaving them with six points as they would go on to score 14 before the halftime. The Titans move to 7-0 on the season overall and are 2-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference after another quick start and a 4 th quarter spurt holds off SE Valley. South Central Calhoun defense created some turnovers with the press early, allowing them to get several easy buckets as they built a 28-6 lead early in the 2 nd quarter. The Titans led 4-0 in the first minute of the game and only allowed a couple 3’s in the 1 st quarter as they went up 23-6 after one quarter. They extended the lead to 37-15 late in the 1 ....
The Titans get a big conference win on Monday to move to 5-1 overall and they sit 2-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference tied with Alta Aurelia. The loss is the first of the season for SE Valley though this was not their conference matchup so the Jaguars are 1-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference. Free throws shooting was the difference for the Titans as they went 18-20 from the line including 15-15 in the 1 st half which helped them lead 36-22 at half and by as much as 30-13 in the 2 nd quarter. They needed to hit their free throws because SE Valley was knocking down 3’s finishing with 16 made 3’s on the night. Kolson Kruse had 5 in the 1 ....
