County Commissioners Make Appointments To ESD Boards
The Hill County Commissioners Court met in a regular session Tuesday, January 26, and appointed members to the Emergency Services District (ESD) 1 and 2 boards of commissioners.
Reappointed to the ESD 2 board for two-year terms were Tad Duncan and Bob Stahl. No other applications were submitted to the court for those positions.
Two positions held by Clarence Pressley and Ken Goins were expiring on the ESD 1 board, and two new applicants applied to be considered for the seats.
Doreen Strickland of Abbott Volunteer Fire Department and Billy Heffner of Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department both applied to serve on the board. ....

HCSO Executes Search Warrant, Makes Arrest
The Hill County Sheriff s Office and the Collin County District Attorney s Office executed a search warrant that resulted in the arrest of a Whitney man Monday, January 25.
According to the sheriff s office, authorities searched a recreational vehicle in the 100 block of Private Road 120 in Whitney after receiving information from another law enforcement agency that a suspect in the Whitney area was downloading and uploading videos containing child pornography on the internet.
Investigators reportedly identified the suspect and retrieved electronics that, to date, have yielded over 300 images and videos containing child pornography.
The suspect, 69-year-old David Wayne Sandlin, was charged with possession with intent to promote child pornography, a second-degree felony, and booked into the Hill County Law Enforcement Center with bond set at $1 million. ....
