Clemson Sweeps Georgia State on Wednesday

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Volleyball team started off the first set strong and never looked back, taking the match, 25-22, 25-16, 25-23 over Georgia State on Wednesday night in Jervey Gym. The match was televised on ACCN. Camryn Hannah led the Clemson offense with 14 kills, as the Tigers pounded out 49 in the three-set match, just four shy of the ACC-high this season for a match of that length. Mckenna Slavik guided the offense to a .306 hitting night, and helped five teammates reach six or more kills. The offense was particularly efficient in the second set, going for 18 kills in 30 attempts as a team, and hitting .500. Kaylee Martin tallied six of her nine kills on the night in the frame. Ava Pritchard had three blocks to lead the Tigers, while also putting down eight kills in 14 attempts. Cate Long (7-1-15) and Ani Clark (6-1-15) also had strong nights offensively. Up Next Clemson returns to Jervey Gym Friday, Sept. 17 as the Tigers host UNC Asheville (2-5) at 12 p.m. at Rutgers ....

Tigers Down Va. Tech in Season Finale


Clemson also received strong performances from freshman middle blocker Colleen Finney and sophomore setter Mckenna Slavik. Finney registered a season-high seven blocks, including three solos, along with nine kills. Slavik dished out a match-high 38 assists and dug 16 Hokie attacks, just one dig shy of her career best.
With the win, Clemson concluded its 2020 season with an overall record of 12-10 and was 6-10 in ACC matchups. Virginia Tech (6-11, 5-11 ACC) also closed out its season on Saturday.
Both teams were knotted at 12-12 in the opening set, but Clemson outscored the Hokies 13-7 in the final 20 plays of the set to win it, 25-19. Hannah posted five of her 20 total kills in game No. 1 on just six swings with no errors. Finney and Thomas also added four kills each. Set No. 1 saw plenty of fluid offense as Clemson hit .538, while the Hokies hit .345. ....
