Cerritos Developing Plans to Reopen City Facilities Share this: The City of Cerritos is preparing to reopen City facilities in compliance with the County of Los Angeles Public Health Officer Order and all applicable health and safety protocols. City staff members are developing detailed plans to safely reopen the Cerritos Library and the Cerritos Senior Center at Pat Nixon Park, as well as the Cerritos Park East, Heritage Park and Liberty Park community centers. The City’s Recreation Services Division is also working on plans to restart the youth soccer league and the summer basketball program. The planning process involves staff training and adapting facilities and services to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Once the reopening plans are completed and implemented, the City will announce the dates that each facility will reopen to the public. ....
California State Parks proposing changes at Oceano Dunes KSBY and last updated 2021-02-19 21:23:01-05 California State Parks released a far-reaching proposal about the future of the Oceano Dunes, and it will likely change how visitors enjoy the popular site. The proposal, called the Public Works Plan and Environmental Impact Report for Oceano Dunes, also known as the PWP, was first submitted in 2018, and then published for public comment in December 2020. It has not received approval yet but will be presented to the California Coastal Commission. The PWP proposes the development of the Oso Flaco Lake Area and the Phillips 66 Refinery site once it shuts down in 2023. The Refinery site would be about 1,800 acres and would supplement the 3,500 acres already within the site. KSBY reached out to Phillips 66, and they told us they were aware of the conceptual plan but declined to comment. ....

Recently, California State Parks released a draft of its 900-page Public Works Plan. The plan could affect Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area and Pismo State Beach in a myriad of ways if accepted, especially when it comes to the Monarch Butterfly Grove. Before last year, the Pismo Beach butterfly grove was one of only five sites in California that saw over 10,000 butterflies yearly, as they sought shelter from northern winters, according to the Conference & Visitors Bureau of Pismo Beach. The Pismo Beach colony is one of the largest in the nation and is run by state parks. In 1990, there were more than 230,000 monarchs counted. ....
California State Parks Seeks Additional Input on the Future of Oceano Dunes SVRA and Pismo State Beach Published: Sunday, 03 January 2021 05:52 January 3, 2021 - SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California Department of Parks and Recreation (State Parks) is seeking additional public feedback on how to adapt Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area (SVRA) and Pismo State Beach (SB) to changing environmental, safety and recreational conditions. Through a public works plan (PWP), a long-range land and development plan, State Parks will implement future operations and functions at Oceano Dunes SVRA and Pismo SB that fall under the California Coastal Act. State Parks introduced the PWP Project to the public in November 2017. Today’s newly released draft plan and draft environmental impact report (DEIR) are reflective of the public feedback the department has received to date. ....
