(The next status conference in the Ventura River Watershed Adjudication lawsuit is set for Monday, April 19, at 1:30 p.m. in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
A status conference is a pre-trial hearing to help a judge manage a case.

Cross-complainant city of Ventura is hammering forward, attempting to obtain a “physical solution” that will impact thousands and thousands of water users and landowners in northern Ventura County. A physical solution is clearly premature at this stage of the litigation. The cross-defendants have not had the opportunity to obtain evidence or establish, where appropriate, that they are not proper cross-defendants.
A premature solution is part of the city of Ventura’s strategy. Any physical solution requires this Court to exercise equitable jurisdiction. The city of Ventura smells to high heaven when equitable considerations are brought to the table. Despite a limited water resource, the city of Ventura has handed out development permits that place unreasonable dema ....

Cerritos Developing Plans to Reopen City Facilities

The City of Cerritos is preparing to reopen City facilities in compliance with the County of Los Angeles Public Health Officer Order and all applicable health and safety protocols.
City staff members are developing detailed plans to safely reopen the Cerritos Library and the Cerritos Senior Center at Pat Nixon Park, as well as the Cerritos Park East, Heritage Park and Liberty Park community centers. The City’s Recreation Services Division is also working on plans to restart the youth soccer league and the summer basketball program.
The planning process involves staff training and adapting facilities and services to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Once the reopening plans are completed and implemented, the City will announce the dates that each facility will reopen to the public. ....
